Arcade cabinet shipping rates?
« on: February 17, 2013, 10:46:51 AM »
Well, I can't seem to find any general information regarding this without having to call a shipping company.  So, I'm curious...How much does it cost (on average) to have an arcade cabinet shipped?  Say, from CA to NC?

Unless you found the deal of a century or a game that is impossible to find in your area, I will tell you that it is not worth it to ship a game.

be patient and get creative searching, youll be surprised at what pops up for sale in driving distance. I know all those candies in cali are tempting but they do come up for sale on the east coast quite often.

Damn!  It's the first Vapor Trail arcade cabinet I've seen yet.  Granted, I haven't been seeking that one for very long...

I'd guess its about $500 to ship an average cabinet that far. If its a Neo 21 with a killer monitor I'd say its worth it. If its some crappy rotting MDF American standup with concave buttons and Pac Man burned into the monitor then its not.

You don't need to buy an entire cab to get Vapor Trail. You can probably buy the PCB for $80 and stick it in whatever cabinet you have.

Look into NAVL. (North American Van Lines) They seem to be the preferred method of shipping games for a lot of guys on the KLOV forums. For the most part, they seem to be the best in price. Depending on size, I'd say anywhere from $300 and up.

You could buy the marquee, bezel and pcb on ebay right now and throw in a cab. You can usually get a dynamo cab for $150 or so off craigslist.

I've never had to ship a cab yet (been lucky) but I hear from others that $300 is about right.

Truth ^^^. I doubt Vapor is a dedicated cab, go for the board. CoinopEx is listing it at $100, so that means $40-50 of real world money. Source a local cab and drop that bad boy in. With all the money you save, buy a keg and have a party.
