Godzilla battle legends question

Any one know how to face a different final stage monster? I have beat the game on every difficulty level, and keep having to battle the space ship in the final battle.

It's based on score - the higher your score the more beasties you can choose from.  To unlock the final two monsters it's important to do well in the trivia questions, which is pretty difficult for dummies like me that can't read chicken scratches and even worse if you're playing the US version (they deleted the trivia parts but didn't adjust scoring to compensate).
