Hello and first steps.
« on: March 10, 2013, 09:22:39 AM »
Hello,

Am new here and this is my story so far in terms of first steps to getting PC-FX(or not as turned out to be the case)

I got it into my head that I wanted a PC-FX, attempted to bid on one on ebay, failed to win auction in the last 10 seconds by £2(Ending price was £87 which i am really kicking myself for missing out on) however I also bid on some games from the seller at the same time, leaving me with copy's of both Team Innocent and Battle Heat for £7 which I think is a good deal, but with no PC-FX to play em on :(

Im keeping an eye on ebay for something to come up again and probably will post a WTB in the marketplace section here to soon.

Welcome to the site, and I am sure you will be able to get one from someone here.  There have been a few sold here in the last month or so.

Welcome. :) The PC-FX may get a bad rap from some gamers, but make no mistake, there is definitely plenty of fun that can be had with the system, even for Westerners. Good luck landing a deal on a system. I wouldn't get too discouraged about missing out on that one auction. Another good deal will come along eventually, maybe an even better deal. When I was first looking for a PC-FX, I came across a lot on eBay that had a system with a bunch of games, but I just barely lost it. I was really, really bummed out about it, wondering if I should have bid more. A bit later, my fiance got me my first PC-FX for my birthday, but I still didn't have many games nor could I find many good opportunities to buy games online at fair prices. A few months later, a really good PC-FX lot appeared on eBay, but it was priced too high. I patiently watched it as it got relisted time and time again, each time a little lower, and then, finally, when somebody else decided to bid on it, I made my move and won the auction (and, thankfully, the bidding didn't go higher than the previous unsold listing, which was a risk I was taking). I managed to get the most expensive, desirable games (Zenki, Zeroigar, and Chip-chan Kick) plus a bunch of other good stuff, and I resold the system (since I didn't need a second) to recoup a lot of what I spent. In retrospect, being bummed out about missing the first auction was pointless because I'm much happier that I landed that later lot.

Welcome to the least visited part of the site, the PC-FX forums!

The system kind of gets a bad rep for having too many dating sims, but there's a lot more to it than that. There's a lot of good RPGs, and a few guys are working on English patches for a couple games as well (right now, the dating sim "Welcome to Pia Carrot" is the only english patched game, but its alot of fun). There's a lot to get excited about if you're a fan of this last of the breed NEC system.

Good luck in finding a console, and keep us posted on your progress!

Hopefully Ill find one sooner or later, in the mean time im also looking for PC Engine stuff as well.

Starting my NEC "collection" with two games for the PC-FX (which i dont even have yet) is not ideal id imagine but I am basicly trying to get stuff as and when I feel the price is just right because the price for some stuff is stupid so I guess that means im gonna be doing things maybe out of order as it were. I assume the price I paid for Team Innocent and Battle Heat was ok ?

Welcome aboard and good luck finding an FX for a decent price.

P.S. - £7 ($10) for Team Innocent and Battle Heat sounds plenty fair to me.
U.S. Collection: 97% complete    155/159 titles
