So, this was the result of a misunderstanding and a fatfingered PM, and the OP was unfairly jumped?
<Statement pretending to be a question>
Basically. I'm new here. My OP was to establish true value based on what you guys know.
I got an price offer for two items that appears to now be a typo. I responded to another PM indicating the other offer, and that user decided to post that publicly, which results in a flurry of accusations and assumptions. I hope that's cleared up.
Well, in the spirit of fair play, you made your own assumptions of value based on a typo in a pm, no? And I mean, this was after the fact that you had others already quote you a solid, totally realistic price.
Not really, no. I did nothing wrong here.
There was no correction to the $800 "typo" until this morning, so for two days I assumed this individual was a serious buyer because he made no attempt to correct himself. I can only assume this person was in good standing, but hey, sure, anyone here may have malicious intentions.
Yes, it was more than everyone else here originally said it would be worth... I said it before - I have been out of the gaming scene and I had no idea what this entire system is worth. It's why I asked in the OP and my intention was never to try to screw or defraud anyone.
Any item (a stock, a baseball card, a comic book, a video game, a collectors car, etc.) is worth what someone is willing to pay for it - it's a basic economic principle, and that's the prevailing factor when it comes to the perceived worth of an item in the collectibles market. I don't know why someone would offer to pay that much, and if they're serious then I don't care. Neither would most people.
A number of people have made some false assumptions based on an embarassing pre-mature rant posted by another member of this forum. And then, of course, everyone else gets dragged in with their two cents, automatically accusing me of trolling or trying to rip people off. I became the target because I'm new here and yes, I'm trying to sell my system. Not the best way to be welcomed to any forum.
Initially, i gave u the benefit of the doubt. I clearly stated that i was not upset with u.
Since then, your explanations are what led to me to believe that u are shady.
You say you did nothing wrong, here's a list of everything u did wrong:
You asked us what it was worth, and we told u, but u didn't listen.
U told me u had an offer of 900, but u didn't bother to message him back to clear it up. (If someone offers me 900 for an 80 game, i would reply back with "900? really?")
Then somehow the offer of 900 magically became 800. (so u added 100 to the offer to try to gouge me, or there wasn't any offer at all)
Then u claim there was a type-o and the offer was supposed to be 80.
So the question is this: Are u willing to sell it for $80? I got 80 bucks cash that i can hand u in person.
If u can genuinely clear this up, then i will sincerely apologize for anything i've done.
oh, and one more thing u did wrong was complain that i posted about our PM's in you're thread. I did that to make sure that nobody gets screwed. If u have nothing to hide then u shouldn't have a problem with that. When we send someone a PM we usually post in the thread too. You cant get mad that i called u out on your BS, even if u claim that your BS was unintentional, it still was BS at the time, and it might still be....unless of course we can clear it up?
Oh please. You didn't give me the benefit of the doubt. You immediately tucked tail and went whining to people on this forum. No attempt to wait for me to find out if the $800 offer was for real... just an immediate kneejerk reaction to go to the community and cry. Yeah sure, from one side of your mouth you claim you weren't upset with me, but then a few posts later you're passing judgement.
*Everything* I've said has been completely legit, and I'm providing the proof, including the screenshots of the PMs since apparently no one cares if they get posted (as you yourself claim).
You have created the confusion - this is 100% on you.
I posted a screenshot this morning of the original $800 offer (page #2 of this topic). Yet, you keep claiming that I was trying to gouge you, or that there "wasn't any offer at all". You obviously haven't been paying attention. So, since you can't (or won't) check your facts before you make false accusations, here it is again:
And now, here is your PM response after I cleared up that it was $800, not $900 (that was a mistake on my part, which I corrected). You need to stop claiming that I tried to convince you I was offered $900. Check the PM I sent you again if you are having trouble processing that.
So yes, in the OP I asked what it was worth, and then I got a PM offering an amount that was considerably more than anyone here claimed it was worth. No one needs to check with you if someone is willing to pay a lot more than you are, and I'm well within my rights to entertain any offers. I don't need your OK to sell something to someone else, and I don't need to justify their asking price to you. Sorry if that's difficult for you to hear. I suppose my mistake was being upfront, open, and candid with you about what someone else offered. In retrospect, maybe I should have just kept it to myself.
Ultimately I *did* clear up the matter with him. So your accusation that I didn't try to message him back to find out was yet another incorrect assumption on your part - here is his response, clearing up the matter completely between he and I. This was a matter between he and I to resolve - he wasn't trying to defraud me, nor I him.
Everything I said in my PMs to you and to everyone else on this forum was 100% honest and above board. At no point did I try to over-inflate any prices or lie about what anyone else had offered to me or said to me.
So, in the end, there was absolutely no BS to call me out on. Nothing. That's yet another one of your unfounded accusations - mostly because you jumped to conclusions without paying attention or having any patience.
Now, to answer your question - I am aboslutely 100% interested in selling not just these two games, but my whole collection, including the system. It would be my complete pleasure to see it go to a good home, with someone who will enjoy and appreciate them as I once did. That's how I felt when I sold my Dreamcast, and when I donated my PS2. Same applies here.
I'm just not selling anything to you. Frankly, after all this, I just don't trust you at all.
