EIDT: I was wrong apparently:  oh well.

Also It seems YS and Sherlock are gone - and he is not trying to sell them anymore

He is still trying to sell the rest. up for da grabs.

There's been a lot of accusations and confusion.  I hope it's cleared up now.

To be clear - nothing has been sold.

If anyone is local and is willing to make me a fair offer then I'm willing to listen and we can arrange for pickup.

Anyone not local who is willing to make me an offer will also need to consider shipping costs which are apparently not cheap according to Canada Post's website.

Otherwise this is going up on Craigs/Kijiji, or I'm donating it to a local youth charity.

So, this was the result of a misunderstanding and a fatfingered PM, and the OP was unfairly jumped?

<Statement pretending to be a question>

Basically.  I'm new here.  My OP was to establish true value based on what you guys know.

I got an price offer for two items that appears to now be a typo.  I responded to another PM indicating the other offer, and that user decided to post that publicly, which results in a flurry of accusations and assumptions.  I hope that's cleared up.

Well, in the spirit of fair play, you made your own assumptions of value based on a typo in a pm, no? And I mean, this was after the fact that you had others already quote you a solid, totally realistic price.

Not really, no.  I did nothing wrong here.

There was no correction to the $800 "typo" until this morning, so for two days I assumed this individual was a serious buyer because he made no attempt to correct himself.  I can only assume this person was in good standing, but hey, sure, anyone here may have malicious intentions.

Yes, it was more than everyone else here originally said it would be worth... I said it before - I have been out of the gaming scene and I had no idea what this entire system is worth.  It's why I asked in the OP and my intention was never to try to screw or defraud anyone.

Any item (a stock, a baseball card, a comic book, a video game, a collectors car, etc.) is worth what someone is willing to pay for it - it's a basic economic principle, and that's the prevailing factor when it comes to the perceived worth of an item in the collectibles market. I don't know why someone would offer to pay that much, and if they're serious then I don't care.  Neither would most people.

A number of people have made some false assumptions based on an embarassing pre-mature rant posted by another member of this forum.  And then, of course, everyone else gets dragged in with their two cents, automatically accusing me of trolling or trying to rip people off.  I became the target because I'm new here and yes, I'm trying to sell my system.  Not the best way to be welcomed to any forum.

Initially, i gave u the benefit of the doubt. I clearly stated that i was not upset with u.
Since then, your explanations are what led to me to believe that u are shady.
You say you did nothing wrong, here's a list of everything u did wrong:
You asked us what it was worth, and we told u, but u didn't listen.
U told me u had an offer of 900, but u didn't bother to message him back to clear it up. (If someone offers me 900 for an 80 game, i would reply back with "900? really?")
Then somehow the offer of 900 magically became 800. (so u added 100 to the offer to try to gouge me, or there wasn't any offer at all)
Then u claim there was a type-o and the offer was supposed to be 80.
So the question is this: Are u willing to sell it for $80? I got 80 bucks cash that i can hand u in person.
If u can genuinely clear this up, then i will sincerely apologize for anything i've done.
oh, and one more thing u did wrong was complain that i posted about our PM's in you're thread. I did that to make sure that nobody gets screwed. If u have nothing to hide then u shouldn't have a problem with that.  When we send someone a PM we usually post in the thread too. You cant get mad that i called u out on your BS, even if u claim that your BS was unintentional, it still was BS at the time, and it might still be....unless of course we can clear it up?

The issue of free market Vs gentleman ship and trading systems/games to keep the community strong rears its ugly head once again.  If you try to fleece guys in an established forum the members will feel the same way a girl does after being banged and tossed.  No passion or respect for the system and its history and reeks of that used car sale personality.

That said this is a free country and you can charge how much for whatever.  But for that to be successful the bay is the only option.  It cheapens the brand however so if you care to trade here you gain a lot more in knowledge and in the future you have a place to be and trust with future trades.

Your call.

Oh please.  You didn't give me the benefit of the doubt.  You immediately tucked tail and went whining to people on this forum.  No attempt to wait for me to find out if the $800 offer was for real... just an immediate kneejerk reaction to go to the community and cry.  Yeah sure, from one side of your mouth you claim you weren't upset with me, but then a few posts later you're passing judgement.

*Everything* I've said has been completely legit, and I'm providing the proof, including the screenshots of the PMs since apparently no one cares if they get posted (as you yourself claim).

You have created the confusion - this is 100% on you.

I posted a screenshot this morning of the original $800 offer (page #2 of this topic).  Yet, you keep claiming that I was trying to gouge you, or that there "wasn't any offer at all".  You obviously haven't been paying attention.  So, since you can't (or won't) check your facts before you make false accusations, here it is again:

And now, here is your PM response after I cleared up that it was $800, not $900 (that was a mistake on my part, which I corrected).  You need to stop claiming that I tried to convince you I was offered $900.  Check the PM I sent you again if you are having trouble processing that.

So yes, in the OP I asked what it was worth, and then I got a PM offering an amount that was considerably more than anyone here claimed it was worth.  No one needs to check with you if someone is willing to pay a lot more than you are, and I'm well within my rights to entertain any offers.  I don't need your OK to sell something to someone else, and I don't need to justify their asking price to you.  Sorry if that's difficult for you to hear.  I suppose my mistake was being upfront, open, and candid with you about what someone else offered.  In retrospect, maybe I should have just kept it to myself.

Ultimately I *did* clear up the matter with him.  So your accusation that I didn't try to message him back to find out was yet another incorrect assumption on your part - here is his response, clearing up the matter completely between he and I.  This was a matter between he and I to resolve - he wasn't trying to defraud me, nor I him.

Everything I said in my PMs to you and to everyone else on this forum was 100% honest and above board.  At no point did I try to over-inflate any prices or lie about what anyone else had offered to me or said to me.

So, in the end, there was absolutely no BS to call me out on.  Nothing.  That's yet another one of your unfounded accusations - mostly because you jumped to conclusions without paying attention or having any patience.

Now, to answer your question - I am aboslutely 100% interested in selling not just these two games, but my whole collection, including the system.  It would be my complete pleasure to see it go to a good home, with someone who will enjoy and appreciate them as I once did.  That's how I felt when I sold my Dreamcast, and when I donated my PS2.  Same applies here.

I'm just not selling anything to you.  Frankly, after all this, I just don't trust you at all.

wow dude, you're really something else. I read this whole thread, i just feel u can't be trusted. I was willing to buy the game for around 80, and u say u don't trust me? Whats not to trust if i'm the buyer and i would have paid u cash in person. You're the one not to be trusted. If u don't wanna sell to me that's fine. Ok, so sell it to someone else for 80 then if u wanna prove it. But I think you're lying and u wanna sell it for more than 80. Which is fine, it's you're right to sell it for as much as u want, u should sell it on ebay. I honestly don't have any ill will towards you, and i apologize if anything i did didn't sit well with you. But don't say i went whining to others on this forum, because all i did was point out what was happening so that everyone on the forum could follow it. What's ur logic there? You wanted to hide it? Dude everything in a sale thread should be posted so that everything is on the up and up, that's all. I believe i'm the one who's owed an apology. All i did was report what i thought was happening and u jumped all over me. And i 100% gave u the benefit of the doubt at first, i literally said that when i first posted if u read back this thread. I was originally not upset with u, i was upset with whoever made the offer, you can read it back if u like. After u said it was 800 instead of 900 is when it opened my eyes to be potentially shady business. Anyways, like i said i don't have any ill will towards u, and i hope u feel the same and we can put this behind us.

Heh. When I saw this post I intentionally held off until it it was a big enough exploded shit storm to be entertaining.

The word "worth" on its own is a dead giveaway.

And yet again another thread giving credence as to the reasons why there should be a post limit before people are able to view the sales section.... Anyway....

Not really, no.  I did nothing wrong here.

Yeah, actually you did. You signed up with a community with the soul reasoning behind it to gauge the value of something you plan to sell, which is not really appreciated in and of it self around here. Next you are told a realistic value for said items. You totally ignore this said quoted value, that you yourself asked for mind you, opting to go for the supposed $800 for two games you thought you were going to get. You do this all the while making statements like:

Quote
In doing my research I came across this forum and decided to ask, since you guys seem to be the experts.

So if we are the f*cking experts, why would you honestly think someone is going to pay you $800 bucks for two common games?

Quote
and would preferably like to sell everything together (instead of parting it up) to someone local.

It's kind of an impossibility to do this when you basically start the ebay chant right out the gate before listing it on CL, other forums, etc. What typical noob ebay chant am I referring to you might ask yourself?

Quote
Any item (a stock, a baseball card, a comic book, a video game, a collectors car, etc.) is worth what someone is willing to pay for it - it's a basic economic principle, and that's the prevailing factor when it comes to the perceived worth of an item in the collectibles market.

/\That one./\ And make no mistake, I'm not a anti ebay person. I'm a long time seller on there. Regardless, I am totally against that kind of seller mentality, because it leads to constant shill bidding, sellers who wont honor honest won low bid sales, and jacked up BIN's in relation to things like video and pc games and other collectables.

Then you kindly follow that shit up with this:
Quote
I don't know why someone would offer to pay that much, and if they're serious then I don't care.  Neither would most people.

And yet you are on a forum where you are finding that most people actually DO care. Why? Well for one we have a emotional attachment to this systems legacy. Two, because this is not just a marketplace. This is a forum, a community as it were. When shenanigans take place concerning our forum, we want to know. After all, by your own words, we are the experts. What kind of experts would we be if we allowed market idiots and gougers to fill our ranks? You're crying about TH16maniacs actions, and yet to be perfectly honest, he did not do so much wrong here as you did. You joined up to waste peoples time here. At least he gives a flying f*ck about whats going on. I'll take ten of him over one of you any day of the week.

Quote
And then, of course, everyone else gets dragged in with their two cents,

Like I said, you asked for those same two cents to begin with anyway, so deal with it and stop crying about it like a little bitch.

Quote
I became the target because I'm new here and yes, I'm trying to sell my system.  Not the best way to be welcomed to any forum.

Lets make no mistake about it, you ARE NOT a member here. You're basically that a$$hole drunk truck driver that drives into some new close knit town and starts shit at the local diner for whatever reason before being tossed in jail for the weekend and sent on his way afterwords to never return. You signed up with the soul intent of making a sale and leaving. You don't care about the Turbografx, nor its games. We don't have to welcome you here at all, and the lack of the red carpet welcome you seem to have expected is due to your own actions, not ours. We don't need you, and I could care less if your last post was in all actuality your very last before my own, because you have added nothing here to this community by joining up and wasting peoples time. You are not the first person to do this, nor will you be the last.

Quote
Otherwise this is going up on Craigs/Kijiji, or I'm donating it to a local youth charity.

Good, get the f*ck out already and be on your merry way. We already told you what it was worth, so piss off.

I think you're right Bernie. Initially i gave him the benefit of the doubt but now he told me 800, so it leads me to believe he is fishing here.

yo drexel.... go sell your shit on ebay, thanks.

Before having the oppotunity to determine if the other poster had made a mistake in his $800 bid, you're passing judgement and writing me off as an eBay type seller who's out to rip people off.

Quote
After u said it was 800 instead of 900 is when it opened my eyes to be potentially shady business.

Read the PM again.  I told you that he offered me $800, no $900.  I wasn't trying to jack up any prices or play any shell games.  Yet that's what you've convinced everyone here that I'm out to do.

Quote
Anyways, like i said i don't have any ill will towards u, and i hope u feel the same and we can put this behind us.

I bear you no I'll will.
