WTB: TG-CD power supply
« on: March 09, 2006, 12:22:00 PM »
I need the power supply for a Turbo Grafx CD. It is 110v 60hz 28w input, and 11v 1.35ma output.
If any of you have one available, please let me know.
Thank you in advance.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's next to impossible to find one-
I had a briefcase setup for several years and my ac adapter died.  I looked for 7 months and finally found one for $60.  The problem is that it's an 11v adaptor- no one make a replacement.  you can find a 10.5 pretty easy to run just the TG-16 unit, but it's not strong enough to power the CD too.  If you use anything more than 11v you will probably fry your CD unit.  You might consider investing the extra $ and get a DUO-R or RX.  If you want to play us games keep the TG-16 base and sell the CD unit and dock seperate(alot of people have one or the other that is faulty).  Believe it or not you could get almost enough doing that to get a R or RX( if you add the $50 or $60 you would pay for a new 11v).

Plus the R & RX have a certain
coolness" all their own-

I had kinda figured that. It's unfortunate really. Thank you for the reply though. I am actually lucky enough to own 2 Turbo Grafx 16's though so your approach might not be a bad idea.(Only one of them is the TG16-CD though)
Just out of curiosity what would be a decent asking price? I have the hard case and system 2.0 (US) HuCard as well as a controller. Thanks.

I broke mine up into parts and sold on ebay, but you may get more on a forum or as a lot- also the Turbo market is kind of funky- the prices flux a lot.

I got $50 for the dock & A/V cable( I think that's a bit high, but that's where the auction ended), $50 or 60 for the cd player, $5 for the system card and $10 for the briefcase.  I sold the TG16 with controller, RF, AC adapter(10.5V) and Keith Courage for $30.  So about $140-150 after my fees and such.

Everything was in good shape- not mint, but pretty nice.

If you shop around you can get a Duo-R or RX for about $150-$200 shipped.  I got my RX for $250 shipped, but it came with 5 games and the original 6 button controller.  It was all close to mint.

Hope that helps-
