Baseball Thread
« on: April 02, 2013, 04:02:46 PM »
Seems there are a lot of baseball fans in the community, so I figured I would start a thread to talk baseball.

Anyone else watch Yu Darvish get Moosed tonight?  I got a good laugh out of it.  Was the second time I have seen a perfect game squashed at 8 2/3 live.

Why the hell were the Houston fans cheering Yu on btw?

"Tonight". You mean they still have baseball games? Is this like, at the antique car shows and civil war reenactment conventions, ren fair, that kind of place?

You have to admire the true fan. They can keep anything alive! :)

AND you got Francona. Great pick up there.

Harper already killing it and Kershaw could be on another planet this year. It's early, but it's always fun to speculate after one game. Great to see the yanks struggling and I'm bearish on the blue jays. Lots of people have them high on winning the east, but I just don't feel it with them.

I buy $20 worth every year around opening day for nostalgia sake, but I am not really a collector.  Wizards of the Coast did a game called MLB showdown, which I played all the time in college with some pals.  For those who don't know, it was essentially Magic The Gathering but with real baseball players instead of dragons.  That was the last time I really collected cards.

I have my AL team the White Sox and my NL team the Mets, both of which are starting off pretty well.

P.S. - Baseball is not a dying sport, park attendance is through the roof.

Indians are 2-0 so far to start the season... Toronto looking like an early championship team on paper but that's it.

Perez needs to settle down and relax... He pitches with passion but he gets us fans nervous almost every save lol. Cant wait till next Tuesday I'll be at the Tribe vs Yankees.....

I like the Indians going for the all washed up team.  You get to sign these guys really cheap and for short term contracts.  These washed up guys have reason to play, to try to prove they still have it and maybe get another contract out of it.  If it doesn't work out, what was the risk?

I agree.... Look at the 95 team. They had washed up Orel Hershizer and Dennis Martinez as starting pitchers and the Indians won 10 straight divison titles and lost close games in the world series twice. 97 was a true heart breaker.
