If its true I won't buy.  If its bullshit, I will buy because I actually enjoy my Xbox.  :). I normally wait at least a year before buying new consoles however.

I enjoy my xbox and 360 but will def not purchase any console or PC game that requires me to stay online or not play used games. Beside that bought a WiiU and told my wife that it will be the last home console I purchase unless nintendo,Sega,Nec release another :)

I didn't watch any of these videos.

I sure as f*ck didn't watch this one:

But regarding the issue at hand, here's the deal. These new consoles are bullshit. They offer nothing substantially new from the current gen. Honestly, games in general have changed very little since the Dreamcast, well over a decade ago, except in the departments of sound and graphics. Game design annoys the shit out of my now. The scene is dominated by me-too fps crap and brown-ass time vampire western RPGs and everything has a f*cking BOOK WORTH of boring frustrating long-winded tutorial. If I actually had an Xbox 720 or a PS4 you couldn't PAY ME to play the f*cker and this is the truth. I barely touch my PS3 and as it is, and that thing is powerful enough to give me every gameplay experience I'd ever want (most recent purchase: league bowling, a game I already own on MVS).

If you are going to boycott these idiot boxes, do it for reasons like mine, or just cave now and preorder the thing. The whole "blocking used games" thing, guess what, they aren't going to do it. Sony didn't "reverse their decision" they never made that decision. As long as you think you win you'll buy the dumb thing. Its the same reason why the federal government lets rednecks keep their guns; as long as they have them they are pacified and will exercise their FREEDOM...to go to work, pay their taxes, sit on their asses and not do anything to change the status quo.

"You are free...to do as we tell you." - Bill Hicks.

By "making demands" like this you are effectively promising to buy the thing because your demands have already been met. They are laughing their ass off at your activism. You are being played.

Sorry to break the news, but its the truth.

it makes me laugh because people are like I REMEMBER PLAYIN THAT BACK IN THE DAY, MAN THAT WAS FUN.

and then I go "yeah I remember playing that 2 days ago because I still have my SNES, retard"

Long before this rumor started, I had already made my decision that for the first time since the 16-bit days, I won't be buying all the consoles. I'm sticking with Nintendo since they release games I like to play, and I'll probably go for some sort of Steambox scenario. Zeta's right: these new boxes offer nothing new in terms of game experiences. What they really offer is making a more sophisticated set-top-box/social media experience. And I don't give a damn about that.

But this "always on" nonsense assures that in ten years, all the games you bought will be useless. Sounds like a great investment to me!
Games I Need: Bonk 3 (HuCard), Legend of Hero Tonma, Magical Chase, Soldier Blade, Super Air Zonk.

Got one to sell? PM me!

For modern stuff I only game on pc. I have a lot more control that way along with a wider selection of games, and the hardware is far far better.

Totally agree.

It makes me happy to no end that we still have our 8 and 16 Bit consoles around to love and enjoy. Regardless of where the video game industry heads we can all still go back to the consoles that really matter.

I agree 100%

I only touch modern Nintendo brand handhelds now a day.  I love my 3DS.

The only thing I don't like is that internet technology isn't yet there for these types of requirements.

I live in a semi-major city and everyone I know has issues with the internet intermittently cutting out.  This is a city-wide issue and it is a major problem with online gaming.

I can only imagine the kinds of issues that are experienced by people in rural areas.  I also have to assume there are a lot of people that won't be able to even play the new system.  I am thinking about my trip to Alaska where there were towns of 100s of people that had electricity, but any internet was satallite based, which wouldn't be applicable for gaming.

Sure you might only be alienating 20%-30% of potential customers, but that seems like a huge amount.  Especially because video game console manufacturers are losing customers to other tech every day, it seems like you would want to hold on to all that you can.

STATUS: I already have an Xbox 360 and PS3 emulator for my PCE. It will keep me busy until the brilliant TG-16 homebrewers emulate the Xbox 720 and PSforte  on our beloved hardware.

This is exactly why this shit isn't happening. Only someone in the %1 of the world that actually has a stable internet connection would even think this was possible. They would have to make a special version that didn't require net access for...I'm going to say at least half of their intended audience, at which point it would make way more sense to just skip the idea for a generation.

They'd *love* to do it, make no mistake, its just that they can't.

I'll probably buy one, because that's what I do.

It will likely sit and collect dust after I beat the 2 games I give a shit about.  and wont be touched for like 4 years until something good comes out.

I generally play PC

or PC Engine.

what I don't get is, who cares.

So it has to be online all the time.  If your internet is down and your life is in shambles, play something that isn't a f*cking retarded rehash of the last 10 years of video games.

I mean, when my PS3 was updating the one time and installing a game, I sat and played Dreamcast.

for 6 hours.

I forgot I was even trying to play PS3.
