I agree with you guys. I really do. I play current-gen stuff about 1% of the time and even then it's usually a compilation of retro games or VC. When I see Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo make bonehead decisions my instincts kick in and I speak out against it. If the industry crashes again or gaming turns 100% social I still have my games, systems and memories of when times were simpler and more exciting. This is the industry I love but it has obviously changed. Where there once was genius bedroom coders and imaginative minds like 80s era Miyamoto we now have suits that are disconnected from the rest of us. Maybe I should just let it happen and turn my back on it. It might be healthier. :)

love my retro and new gaming but if i have to be connected online just to play my games single i wont be buying the new xbox.

shame on gaming if it happens, its just a road to cut out second hand games and to charge you full retail price game downloads, there be no game collecting in future as the online services will be turned off and ll you games will go to silicon heaven.

Nice to see the general feeling is against being dictated to with new consoles, and preferring retro games anyway.

Personally I prefer gameplay anyway, which lends to retro games and systems.

Irrespectively, the internet I use at home is only ethernet as i'm not happy using wireless, and also I don't expect to have to pay inflated game prices, if I get games they tend to be second hand and cheap as most games are not worth paying good money for. Both of those factors seem to also lend to retro gaming too, given the policy for money-grabbing by the console manufacturers.

Talking of retro gaming, unrelated in a way but not really - I am expecting to release my video and pics to the world tomorrow for my Project Unity system. A retro console that can play 18 game formats, no emulation or clone hardware included, one controller, one power supply, one SCART cable...

I'll wait and see how it goes. Already dissapointed with the Wii HD + Tablet. Unless $ony and M$ can come up with some sort of virtual reality, 4D, 4K, etc I don't see how they can provide anything substancially different.

I would be more concerned about the games I bought with the imaginary points. Once the X360 is gone, who know what's gonna happen.

Seeing as my PS3 is used 99% of the time as a streaming device and 1% of the time as a games machine, I'm not overly concerned either way. Whenever I buy the PS4 or "XB720" (or whatever) it will probably also be used primarily as a streaming device.

Think MS would be committing suicide by eliminating used games on the system, especially if Sony allows them. I doubt they're going to prohibit them. Gamestop could just flat out refuse to carry games for the system since banning used games would be an open f*ck you to their business model.

Just another reminder that the game industry of today is not the same one we fell in love with 20-30 years ago. It's big business now.

Can we agree - as a society - to stop inserting a $ over the S in a company's name? It's just so...

People leaving interest on the Xbox is kinda appropriate - it is therefore the "ex"-box

its simply in invite for hacking
most systems that have been hacked, were hacked due to unreasonable usage restrictions(phones/consoles)

well E3 will soon be around the corner and we should have all the news on what sony and microsoft will be doing then we all can make  more informed decision on what we are doing, but i am still sticking too if its online only i wont be buying it.

And that hope MS new console if of better quality than the last, taking from experance i had 5 replaced and that's making me think on more ps4 this time and it seems most of my mates are thinking the same thing.

The PS3's suffered from issues including overheating too; neither brand is probably ideal.
