So...interesting observation.  A few weeks ago, a Brown University student went "missing" and his name was Sunil Tripathi.
Striking resemblance to "Suspect #2" (white hat)

Eighth picture in the slideshow...

I'm just sayin'...

Dave Portnoy wrote on his blog this morning...

"How do I sum up the last 10 hours?  Hmm.  Well you didn’t miss much.  Only that the 2 terrorists robbed a 7/11 near Kendall Square.   Then they killed an MIT police officer.  Then they carjacked a Mercedes SUV and led the police on a police chase into Watertown throwing grenades at the cops.  At 2am the FBI released new crystal clear photos of the terrorists. There were bombs and pressure cookers all over the place. There was a wild shootout in a residential neighborhood.   There was a reverse 911 call placed telling all Watertown residents to lock their doors and stay inside.   A innocent dude got caught in the mix and was forced to get naked and put into a cop car.  One of the terrorists got killed.  One of the terrorists got away and is still on the lose.  There were like 5 more shootouts.   More cops got injured.   I listened to the police scanners for 10 straight hours.  The police scanners confirmed that Sunil Tripathi (the missing Brown kid) was the 2nd terrorist.  Then Pete Williams from NBC said it wasn’t which really made me look like a total a$$hole.  I ate some pizza for breakfast. And currently the guy we thought was Sunil, but supposedly isn’t is still loose and the MBTA is shut down and the entire city is on lockdown as this madman runs around with a gun and a bomb strapped to him.   Other than that you didn’t miss anything."

And I just woke up to a recording from my employer telling me NOT to go into Boston for work today.

Okay, so both terrorists are Russian, but they claim to be Muslim. Is there any chance we won't see the anti-Muslim witch hunts start up again, just as they were finally starting to die off? I'd like to think so, but the extreme stupidity of bigots in this country makes that unlikely. At least CNN has the right idea. One of their guys said "These are islamic terrorists?" and the woman next to him corrected him and said "Those are two different words. We shouldn't automatically put them together."

Not all muslims should be lumped together, but it's hard to like those that participate in or approve of rape victims being blamed for showing too much eyebrow, women (and their children) being imprisoned for 'abandoning' their abusive husbands, forced marriage of adolescent girls to 50+ year old men, and daily bombings of anyone that disagrees (even other brands of muslimism).

I heard reports that the reports of ties to Islam are false. I have several Islamic friends, and In my experience there will be anti-muslim sentiments  either way.
NW: Hey, I made it on this psycho's Enemies' List, how about that ?? ;)

BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere.

That's a fair point, but I tend to assume that if a Muslim moves to the US, it's because they don't agree with that and are trying to get away from it. Sure there's going to be the occasional wolf in sheep's clothing, but the vast majority of Muslims in the US are peaceful and have no desire to harm anyone.

It is funny, we play this pen/paper game where the one kid is playing an ex war-hero that survived multiple wars in places like Bosnia, Korea, and Chechnya.

So I sent him a text and said  "Quick, send Logan in to stop this guy"

and he was like "oh man, hold on let me get my d10s".

we're f*cking retards.

Witch hunts, eh ? Were there killings and mosque bombings that I am unaware of ?? I think Americans have generally been surprisingly well behaved all things considered beyond isolated incidents here and there, hardly something that you could call a lynch mob or witch hunt. If you're crying about soon to come nasty comments on the Internet, well, that isn't different from any other day on the Internet. I realize this puts another dent in the Islam = Peace narrative though and the clowns who run around and keep repeating that over and over again, but oh well...

Who are you calling a bigot anyway, being a great big one yourself ?? It's commendable that you don't want Mohammedans/Muslims negatively generalized as terrorists or terrorist-sympathizers, but you had no problem generalizing the "whitey christian" as "the most bigoted kind on the planet" in that linked post. "White" had no business in your comment, and I doubt you're a black guy, but even then I find it very bizarre, and never mind you generalizing them as bigoted (and I'm sure in your dictionary, bigoted = they don't agree with me!).

The same CNN that had an analyst who floated the idea of "some right-wing group" before there were any real facts on the ground in this case... That's commendable, so now they'll try to make sure an actual fact is omitted when it suits them of course.

Please avoid the Faux News shit.

Yeah, cause all the other networks do such a bang up job. I remember the Batman-opening shooting massacre and ABC News basically "googling" and then from that reporting that the guy was a Tea Party member... Took them an hour or two to correct that shit and the apology was only issued on the website. Wanting it to be true so much got the better of them... I really thought the Tea Party should've filed a defamation suit in that case, but they let them get away with it.

In all seriousness, Deadspin's coverage of this thing has been dynamite so far. And we're talking about a Gawker Media Sports Blog.
