Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Full image from the CFVC:

This is not the same exact image, as it has definately been retouched for colour. Here's a side-by-side comparison:

Also, I can sorta see why CF1 was never released in the US...conservatives would have had a fun time with this one:

One interesting thing I noticed about the art styles from the first to the second is the presence of dithering...the cinemas in the first use it a lot for the background, while the second is almost completely devoid of dithering.

I wonder why they made the picture more pale and weird-looking.

OK, it looks like my initial speculation was dead wrong. Which leads us to ask...

My best guess: to simulate the steam in the shower? Upon removing the misty clouds from the PCE game, maybe they "overexposed" the image to make it look steamier? Otherwise, ... ?

I like that steamy look from the Visual Collection CD. I noticed from the original CF2 cinema that it almost looks like the little "steam clouds" covering her naughty parts were quickly made. Perhaps the cinema from the Visual Collection was actually originally drawn for CF2, but was updated instead possibly because they felt the nudity was too much and what an easier way of covering the naughty parts than quickly drawing steam clouds over them? As for the color differences, I don't really know why they made them different. Maybe they thought it was more fitting and decided to use it for the Visual Collection CD?
