Hey everyone
I have been thinking lately about all the hype with HTPC's(Home theater Pc)
After looking at some of the cases, they seem to provide a world of possibilities.
I know that some will probably hate my idea since the finished product won't be visually recognizable as an NEC unit, but here goes:
I wanted to take a slim-line htpc case and stuff the guts of a TG-16 and CD
unit inside of it along with modding it to output S-Video/RGB/Composite, and
of course the region mod. Another possibility was a small Vacuum-Flourescent LCD with a stand-alone programmable controller to provide a high tech looking display that would denote if the HuCard or CD was being used in an alpha-numeric fashion as well as fan speed and voltage.
Next was gutting the CD unit itself and transforming it to a newer slide out type as seen with the original PS2.
Next on the list was taking a turbo tap and trying to seamlessly (I hope) incorporate it into the front panel. Here I am presented with another option, which is whether or not to convert the pinouts to a PC Engine type.
If this is done, then controllers are still easily available as well as the use of japanese accessories and the new classics converter they now have at TZD.
I would really appreciate any thoughts and input on this. I plan to start the project in the next 2-3 weeks when I get the time.
