Ok, so here's what I propose...

I would like to start a 5 day Ebay auction on June 1st(ish).

If anybody would like to contribute a duplicate game, or any other Turbo related goodness, send me a PM with what you have to offer.
I would like to receive everything by May 25th(ish) in order to take pictures, write the description, and all the other Ebay crap that goes along with a listing.

[ul][li]I will be doing one auction and sell the whole pile as a single lot, with a somewhat low starting bid.[/li][li]Once we have everything, I'll share the details and we can determine a good starting price.[/li][li]I will cover the final value fee and paypal fee.  This way, whatever the auction ends at will go right to Bernie.[/li][/ul]
I do hope a few people would like to circle the wagons and help him out.  Not everybody can give money straight up, so this may be a fun way to chip in.
I think I have a spare Double Dungeons to get the ball rolling.

Please keep in mind, this has nothing to do with what you think of me, this is for Bernie.  He's a terrific member around here and maybe this will help cement what a great place this is.
Worth a shot.

Sounds good so If it is one auction we should keep all the items related as it will sell better right? So tg16 and or pce related items? Also maybe start a new thread so people know what's going on.. "Let's help our pal Bernie" :)

Right.  I was hoping to just do a TG16/PCE auction.  If we start mixing consoles/items it may be tough to attract the best bids.
From my experience, bunching up different games for different consoles doesn't do too well.  I only have time to commit to one auction, and I'm trying to keep it simple for everybody.

The way I look at it, it's a win/win/win all around.
Donate a dupe for good karma (all you are out is shipping it to me...WIN)
Somebody out there may end up getting a good deal for whatever we conjure up to auction (WIN)
Bernie gets the money (WIN)
We have a fun auction to watch (WIN?)

Bernie, I hope I can give you a little bit of hope & comfort & general info from someone who went thru this.  I was born with a cleft palette & lip, & now I'm 36.  I had 7 surgeries over the first 18 years of my life correcting it.  I think I was 3 months with my first surgery, I'd have to ask my parents what specifically was done, but I think they closed my lip up.  Later they closed up my palette to an extent.  I do still 2 holes in the roof of my mouth.  One right in the middle, & another a lil bit in front of it & to the right.  The latter hole is from a tooth that was growing there, & eventually with braces, it was brought up into the front of my mouth with the rest of my teeth.

They didn't want to work on my nose much until I was older, because of the fear of it growing & getting messed up after surgery if they did it too early.  So when I was 18, they took some cartilage out of my right hip, & put it in my right nostril & my jaw.  Everything came out just fine.  My nose isn't 100% perfect, & I do have a minor scar down my lip, but people don't notice either of that unless I point them out, which is good for your kids sake.  However, I do believe in grammar school, that I was made fun of a bit, so bare that in mind.  I'm sure Dr's are better at fixing the problem nowadays, so maybe she'll get fixed up earlier then me.  Growing up, I did have earaches a lot, which may have been from this, but I haven't had any in 20 or more years.

I do believe that part of my ability to mimic sound with my voice or my ear for music might have something slightly to do with the holes in the roof of my mouth, but that's only a theory on my part.  I can whistle, but when it comes to speech, I do tend to slurr my words.  I went thru some speech therapy growing up, I think it helped.  I mainly have problems with using the letter "s".  I don't put my tongue in the same place that others do when using words with "s" in them.

That's all I can think of at the moment, but I'll keep thinking of other things related to my lip & palette, if only so you know what to maybe expect in the future.  All in all though, I'm very happy with the results of the surgeries.  So hang in there dude, I'll see if I can help in a monetary well as well.

Paranoia, thanks so much for sharing.  Fortunately for us, Sutton only has the one hole in her soft palate.  Jimilee did say it was strange you mentioned having problems with certain letters, such as "S".  She was born the exact same way as Sutton, and of course they repaired it with surgery, but she also has those issues with certain letters.  To look at Sutton, you wouldn't even know there was an issue.  We head to Richmond tomorrow morning to see the specialist, so hopefully this can soon be a thing of the past.  I cannot bear thinking of her having surgery, and being in the hospital for a few days.  :(

I just am speechless as to the amount of support this forum has poured out for my family.  I cannot say enough, THANK YOU ALL, from the bottom of our hearts.  Thank you so much.

You're one of the nicest guys on this forum Bernie.  If it wasn't for you I might not even be here.  It's the least I could do.  All the best to you and your family.
I'm busy playing pinball, but I still drop by to visit.

Exactly. It's a damn shame we can't FULLY show Bernie how much he helped keep this forum a great place to be.

Hopefully things will look up for you and your family, sooner than later.  I added a little bit to your funding and hope it helps even though it isn't much.
All is well. :)
