Sorry for the post resurrection, but I didn't feel like starting a new thread...
I finally bit the bullet and bought a Vita the other day. I didn't bother getting any games with it as I have PS+ and decided to check out the freebies first. Well, with one exception: I downloaded TxK immediately. Being a big sucker for Tempest, I couldn't resist. And yeah, it's pretty great. Maybe the best version of Tempest I've played since the Jaguar.
As far as free stuff goes, I downloaded Uncharted, which - while fun - still seems a bit gimmicky. The touch-screen stuff is absolute nonsense. That aside, it's a decent portable version of Uncharted, which is cool. For as many problems as I have with those games, they still manage to entertain me. Must be the Indiana Jones factor.
I also downloaded Wipeout, which is...well...the same as every Wipeout game I've ever played. Which is a good thing, I suppose. It is pretty, though, so there's that.
And then there was Gravity Rush. I had no idea what to expect from this game, and wow...not impressed. I mean, it's unique, for sure. But after about 45 minutes, I removed it from my ridiculously overpriced memory card.
Oh, and I downloaded Spelunky because I already had it on PS3 and, unlike Nintendo, Sony doesn't bend you over for cross-buy downloads (usually).
Overall, I'm pretty impressed with it. Like the PSP, I'm still constantly afraid that I'm gonna break or scratch it, but unlike the PSP those f*ckers didn't include any sort of case. I've already mentioned the memory cards, but sweet shit...$80 for 32GB? WTF?
On my "to buy" list are Ys, Persona 4, Tearaway, Dragon's Crown, and maybe a few others. I like the indie library, though, so I'll most likely pick up Ollie Ollie and some others.
