Aero Blasters Difficulty Select
« on: May 25, 2013, 06:14:11 PM »
I'm trying to beat Aero Blasters for TG16 on the console itself, and it's proving to be quite a challenge. Online, I found references to a "Difficulty Select", but the codes don't work. Does anyone happen know the ACTUAL cheat code? I'd like to beat the game on the actual hardware, and we can correct all the misinformation out there about TG16/PCE codes!

Here is a link to the Aero Blasters cheats. All the other codes listed there work, except the difficulty select. Everywhere I found so far lists the codes exactly the same. Perhaps there's a correct reference in an old EGM or something?

Looking to buy the following games (US versions). PM me if you have one for sale:
- Bonk 3 CD
- Dynastic Hero
- Terraforming

Aero Blasters is, indeed, a challenging game. I propose you abandon your quest for this mythical code and dedicate every waking moment of your life, every mili-joule of energy in your cellular structure, every hope and aspiration in your soul to beating this game in the next 1-5 years.

I recommend using the extra continues or lives trick before changing difficulties. I don't remember there being adn easier difficulty, only harder. But I do know that whatever tricks appeared in EGM bitd were correct.

EDIT: I just tried all the tricks linked above and they all worked. As Nick Rox would say, you need to "utilize skills". Use two fingers, one on either direction, and rock the d-pad rapidly as you rapidly press Select.

Unfortunately, the easier difficulty only seems to give you power-ups faster or enemies who take multiple hits perhaps take fewer. But it's not much different.

Haha, well, I USED to own this game a long time ago, and now I'm "refreshing" my collection :)  I haven't played it in years, but I got good enough where I could make it to this stage where it moves super fast and you have to use these bumpers to not crash against the walls. This is a truly sadistic game :)  As far as I'm concerned, with some of these classic games, finding and using the cheat codes is PART of the game :)

That's only the second stage;) That is called turbo processing. Wait until you get to stage 5. That's where I'm stuck.

As am I, I breeze through all the beginning levels without dying.  Then on to 5 and its hell..  It's been awhile since I played it but I think I'll pop it in right now and see if I can even make it there anymore.

Edit: Yup, half way through lvl 5 and I was toast.

I actually meant that the difficulty trick requires skills to pull off. :P

The secret to beating Aeroblasters is to dodge early. If a bunch of stuff is coming at you and you wait too long for a nicer opening, you'll get trapped.

I beat this game back in the day but IIRC it took my last ship to do it, and I used every code there is. I'm not sure if I knew about the difficult code at the time though.

Yeah, this game is nails.  I get my ass handed to me at level 2.  I really need to invest more time in this, but I haven't had a proper sit-down in a while.

Can I ask; the ship with the power-ups, is there a technique to collecting them, or where you should position yourself?
I keep hanging back and snagging one or two, but I miss LOADS of power-ups.
