Go to this site:

Avenue Pad 6

This is the boxed one.  They also have a unboxed six button controller of the same name for $8 cheaper, but I think the boxed one is in better condition and it would be nice in your collection.  I like to get things in their boxes.  I don't know how much you wanted to spend.  The site is pretty good.  Check out the PC-Engine stuff.  Thee is a lot.[/url]

That is cool man, but I have a Turbo Grafx, not a Duo. The plug differences is the problem here! :(  I will have a look though for sure!

I don't think they ever made a 6 button controller with a turbo-style plug. :(

assuming the internal sockets are identical, however, you might be able to sacrifice a turbo controller to give an avenue 6 pad a turbo cord.

I never understood why they changed the connections of the joystick port midway through the life of the system.  WTF?

Anyway you can get a 6-button controller to work on the TurboGrafx by taking an existing Turbo Controller apart, removing the wire (it plugs right in to the board, no soldering/unsoldering necessary) and putting it into the 6-button controller.  Be aware, however, that not all TurboGrafx controllers are equal.  They do not all connect to the board the same way as the 6-button does.  It may fit, but it may not work.  It's trial and error.

But the good news is once you do get it to work, you'll never want to go back to the 2 button pad because the 6-button pad is a bit bigger and we Americans have gigantic hands.  :)

Try looking on ebay for a TurboGrafx-16 to Duo controller converter.  NEC made official ones because they sold it on ebay.  It was sold.

Yeah but he needs a Duo to TurboGrafx converter, which to my knowledge was never made after NEC abruptly abandoned the TurboGrafx completely for the Duo.  My method will work, though.

A couple reasons:

1) the duo is too small. The flat area on the front would have to be much wider to accomodate a turbo style plug.

2) to save money; before, they had to add a new cord to any Japanese peripheral they brought over; with the duo controller port, they no longer had to.

2.5) if they didn't, you'd have to buy yet another adaptor to use those nifty Japanese controllers.

Yeah, but that adapter is so you can use a Turbo Grafx pad on a turbo Duo, not the other way around. I may just go fo the switching cables method, especially since there is no Soldering required! :D

thanks, for all the replies, I finally picked up an  Avenue Pad Six on Ebay.
The only problem is, the d-pad feels a little mushy... anybody else had this problem? Thanks.

p.s. I have a turboduo with the springboard converter.

O.k. o.k I forgot.  Go to TZD.com .  If they don't have replacement TurboGrafx cords, which I believe they do, call them.  They are very nice.  Actually it's just one guy that answers the phone so it's like a one on one customer support.  They are great.

There site is going to look nice sooner or later.  I hope the spirit of the old site will remain.  Even though the site is bare bones, I like the art.  I like to e-mail and call them because sometimes their stock might not be the same as on the web site.  Excellent store.  Too bad I live in New Jersey, so I have to wait till Thursday for my Turbo Duo.  I hope it's well insulated because as of this moment it is raining.
