PC Engine LT broken?
« on: June 09, 2013, 07:15:16 AM »
Hi,

I purchased a very nice, fully boxed PCE LT on ebay 6 years ago for around $400. I was a huge collector in my youth but I've moved on and sold most items. I rarely played with this. It was the centerpiece of my collection and I treated it like a newborn.

I recently took it out of the bubblewrap to check it out and maybe sell it on ebay. But when I power it on, the screen will fade to complete black after roughly 10 seconds of working fine.

I don't have any games on me at the moment, but in a week or 2 I have to go back to my old place of residence and I can test the games. I'm just wondering what is wrong. Is this common? Fixable? HELP!

It probably needs the capacitors changed.  Check with Turbokon or Chop5 and see if they're up to doing the job.  Or if you'd like to sell it as is, let me know ;)

This is what scares me about owning an LT.  I've paid a lot of money for mine and it works......but for how long?

I hope you don't get this fixed just to flip it on ebay, that would be pretty lame.

I would consider keeping it, but the possibility of it degrading and breaking again scares the shit out of me!

Once repaired it should last another 15-20 years no problem.  Maybe even longer.
