Finally started my turbografx collection
« on: June 18, 2013, 01:14:26 PM »
After waiting a long time for a good way to enter the turbografx scene, I found it a couple weeks ago. I managed to get lucky and nab it in an overlooked listing for just over $300 and I think I got a very good deal, but I'll let you guys decide.

The turbografx works good but the power supply isn't for the cd system, just the turbografx so if anyone knows where I can get a replacement let me know. The turbo express had no audio or video but I was able to repair it and now its rocking. Before anyone asks I am keeping the case because I think it's sweet and it will be useful for trips but if anyone is interested the green bad is up for trade. Excited to enter the world of turbografx!

For those interested here is the original ebay listing

I don't know the going rates for stuff these days, but I would say you got a great deal. Why?

Well, it's all about SOLID games + kool hardware + "not-so-common" bonus items...

(1) There are haters, but I like the TG-CD. Sure, you might be limited with ability to play some software, but you are just starting out. Get the cheap solid games you can play now. Worry about other things after you've played all the good stuff available to you.

(2) TurboExpress is fun. Period.

(3) Hardcase for TurboExpress is kool. Not-so-common. You will give it to me. I will give you $20. The soft case for jewel cases is neat, too. I'll take it off your hands.

(4) You have an INSTA-LIBRARY with great games...Legendary Axe, Splatterhouse, Bonk1 and Bonk2 and Valis III (the best in the series) are SOLID and desirable. If you are a shoot-em-up fan, Sidearms is a great little game.

BOTTOM LINE: You couldn't have asked for a better INSTA-ENTRY into the world of TG-16

Unfortunatly it looks like their sold out :( If anyone has a spare power supply for sale let me know. For anyone who may be interested in the green bag, I'm not sure of its value but I do have a few items I'm looking for.

A turbo vision and some games
A cd drive pc engine or turbo

Like I said I have no clue of its value so if you guys feel its worth way less than that I could always ad cash.

Thanks for your guys advice and opinions!

Not to bad for eBay, I use my tgcd system the most of any turbo/pce system and if you have cd drive troubles later there are some great guys here who can help fix r up.  Enjoy man and Splatterhouse that game never gets old :)

Radio Shack model 273-1775 tip N or 273-358 tip N should work with the Turbo CD (and is smaller than the OEM adapter).

I have a spare Dragon Spirit, Vigilante, and some sports games for trade.

So you're the guy that beat my highest bid ($301.00) on this auction.  I really wanted that TurboExpress case.  I have the matching TurboGrafx-16 hard case and it would have been awesome to have the pair.  Congrats on the win, I'm still sour about it.
I'm busy playing pinball, but I still drop by to visit.

Congrats on your new collection!

Retro Game Cave is your best best for a quality replacement, and he'll probably have more in stock soon.  Maybe you can try to find a generic replacement at a thrift store?

The user "Keith Courage" often sells refurbished CD units.  He may be able to hook you up with one.

Many of the modders around here can replace the caps on your Express to bring it back to full health.  They are trustworthy and affordable.  While you have it out for repair, I'd recommend getting a switchless region mod done so you can play PC Engine games on it by holding down select when it's powered on. :)

You've got a lot of good gameplay there!

Very nice!  I Have a similar bag to that one.  THey are kinda cool to hold your jewel cases and games, but they are not as sexy as the hard cases.  I will be intrested to see your reaction to the games, you have a few of my favorites in there.
NW: Hey, I made it on this psycho's Enemies' List, how about that ?? ;)

BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere.

You can't tell most retro gamers anything!

Close.  It's for those little cardboard milk containers.
