WTB - Super System Card
« on: June 24, 2013, 05:53:07 PM »
Hello friends,

I've recently started collecting Turbografx stuff again.  I grew up playing my express, turbografx CD, and such.  Saved all the boxes for everything.  I'm looking at getting a Super System Card.  I was wondering if there are any available from people on the site or if I should just buy one off of feebay?  Seem to be going for around $200.  Is that about right?  Thanks for any help.

Robert

PS - I beat bomberman the other night.  It took me a month to beat that when I was little.  It took one night to beat it now.

I sells for much less on eBay ftom time to time. If you're not just buying it as a collectible, there are many alternatives. The most obvious is to just buy a PCE Duo system for less.

If you own a Turbo CD unit, you can also have a region mod done and purchase an import SCD card for a lot cheaper too.

Great.  Thanks for the quick response.

I'm trying to decide if I want to try to collect everything CIB because that's what I have so far OR if I should just go for the jewel case, manual, and Hu/CD.  Does the box add that much value?  I enjoy the chase of finding CIB.  Where do you guys get most of your games - trade on here or ebay?

Also, is there a place to get the jewel cases with the hucard or just the hucard plastic insert for the cases?  Thanks.

Robert

ehh most likely a combo.  the box deends on the game. sometimes no value is really added, sometimes a ton by ebay standards.

Jewel cases are harder to come by.  you'll either need to scavenge a common game, or use a CD case and mod it somehow.  There was a member here working on replacement jewel cases.

Repo sleeves may be purchased from member SeymorOnion

Repro CD jewel cases are also in the work by SeymorOnion (no ETA) and another forum member by the name of jelloslug (also no ETA).

Collecting the boxes is really up to you.  If you do, you are in for a longer and more difficult chase.

Hit me up if you're looking for a Super System Card 3.0 still.  I have a legit complete and mint US copy I'm willing to part with.

I looked around and really couldn't find any selling on any of the major selling places.  I've also seen on here people saying between $200 and $150-ish, but even then most of those comments/threads were 6 months old or more.  It's hard to say...  Obviously $200 sounds great to me, but if that's not what I can realistically get then I'm open to offers.

It's absolutely mint.  I bought it about 10 years ago brand new, and opened it about a year later.  It stayed inside the system for a few years, got used periodically, and then I moved and it got packed away, then I moved 3 more times and I just never found it again until recently.  I already sold off all my other TG/PCE/PCFX stuff months ago, otherwise I'd sell it along with my complete TG-CD attachment I used to have.

Here's a picture of it, I can do more if needed:

Yeah I sold mine to a forum member here about 6 months ago for a little under $130 shipped from what I recall. Id think $150ish would be fair.
Awesome trades and deals with:
Fiftyquid, thesteve, keithcourage, mothergunner, Bernie, turboswimbz, Bardoly, BlueBMW, Galam, Nullity, Jtucci31, sirhcman,  Elderboroom, dicer

Yeah, that was me.  We did a $$$ and trade deal.  I think it was around $150 by the time we were done.  I would say $100 is a good deal on a SS3.0 card, but $150 is probably the going rate outside these forum walls.

Yeah it was you Fifty! Great trade and thanks for showing me how painless it is to ship my Canadian brothers! Now a quick question. If going for a full Hu card collection, does the System Card 3.0 count as part of it? Not sure if this was asked before. If so I may be interested in getting one back.

Your bound to get arguments both way on it being part of a full set.  Alll depends on how much of a completionist you want to be, and how you break things up. For examples: is it a game, HuCARD, or an accessory?  Is it part of CD collecting since it's for the CD games?

I'd vote no.  The SS3.0 card exists due to Super CD games.  If Super CD games had never come to the system the SS3.0 card would never have existed.  Same arguement for the 2.0 card.  If you're going for a full US collection then I would consider both part of the whole.

It's part of a 'full HuCARD collection' (it is a HuCARD afterall), but it's not needed for a 'full HuCard game collection'.
