Classic Gaming Quarterly shameless plugging thread...
« on: August 27, 2013, 03:55:55 PM »
Hey guys,

On top of doing the Classic Gaming Quarterly website for several years now, I am now doing YouTube videos.  If no one minds, I'll use this thread to post new videos whenever I upload them.  Constructive criticism, subscriptions, and requests are all welcomed!

Today I uploaded a retrospective of the Streets of Rage series on the Genesis.

Thanks!

Chris

Awesome!  My little brother had a Genesis bitd (I was 15-ish and he was 7-ish) and I remember buying the original Streets of Rage when it came out and being humbled asking to play it on his console...
The soundtrack!  Oh, the soundtrack...

Nowadays I think Streets of Rage 2 is nearly beat-em-up perfection. I agree about trying to rank the soundtracks.  I still love the original.  I haven't spent much time playing 3, so can't really comment on it.

I don't like the way SOR3 plays, and I think Yuzo was def when he did the soundtrack.  I know he didn't do all of it and was going for a more hardcore techno sound, but it wasn't good.

Made a little quickie bonus vid today. Took a look at a few third-party Genesis controllers that I had sitting in a pile in the CGQ studio.

That was enjoyable, but I hope you expand/build on this by comparing/contrasting other games with the Super Monaco GP series.

Definitely. I think an F1 Circus retrospective would be awesome.  I'm also working on an F1 game review for the SNES right now.

http://www.youtube.com/CGQuarterly

I just uploaded 2 new videos.  The first is a review of the awesome book "Capcom 30th Anniversary Character Encyclopedia, which even includes a little bit of Turbo goodness.

The second is a review of Nigel Mansell's World Championship Racing on the SNES.  Definitely worth a look if you're an F1 fan.

Thanks for looking!
