What are some good driving games on the Duo? Even though the hardware isn't ideal for this kind of game, the ones I've played on the system have been pretty fun.

Well...can't think of any CD ones unless you're into the F1 Circus series.
Cards...Out Run.

I quite liked Road Spirits :)

But then as Paul will tell you, I like Deep Blue.

ooh...Legend of Dekoboko. Worth it for the song on the title screen alone. Classic!

How does Road Spirits compare to Outrun or Victory Run? I've been curious about that one.

Nobody has suggested Final Lap Twin?

The RPG quest is really the greatest thing. Then again, you may not be looking for that...

If you want a challenging Super Sprint-esque game, check out MotoRoaderMC.

MotoRoader MC (CD) is different than the first MotoRoader 1 (HuCard), which suffered somewhat from the game mechanics (it should have been like MicroMachines Racing NES -- because Camerica perfected this sort of racing game). MotoRoader 1 is close, but not nearly as fine tuned, creative or as enjoyable as the Camerica NES game).

That said, I actually like MotoRoader 1 (which is similar to Dekoboko that sunteam_paul mentioned), but I'm also insane.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything as addictive as RC Pro Am or MicroMachines Racing (NES) on the PCE.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

I'm not really sure whats available on CD but for HUcards..

Well these are my favourites with Final Lap holding the top spot.. although I'm sure people will disagree with me XD

1st: Final Lap Twin (runs really smoothly)
2nd: Outrun (I think this is a good port but when the tracks split its off putting)
3rd: Chase H.Q.  (good for short bursts)
4th: S.C.I   (slightly more annoying than Chase HQ)
Victory Run (its ok.. really early PCE game that runs fast and its smooth.. Hudson shoulda did a sequel with better graphics)
Zero 4 Champ (not really sure how to class this cause I didnt know the controls)
F1 Tripple Battle (hmmm its pretty smooth but the graphics are a wee bit small and the engine sounds are poo..  >__<)
F1 Pilot ( O_O I seen better graphics on NES)

Top Down racing:
F1 Circus 92 (Human's best racing HUcard game)
Motor Roader (fun is at the multiplayer)
Motor Roader 2

Motorbike Racing
Bari Bari Densetsu (hmmm this is ok.. strictly for hardcore bike racing fans)
Racing Spirit (again it runs smoothly but it lacks a certain spark)

Yay! A fellow MotoRoader fan! I agree that the MotoRoader series is best enjoyed with at least one other person. I've had the most fun with 3-5 folks. Actually, I've never played MR2 (the HuCard is a bit pricey). How is it compared to MR 1? I know I'll eventually get MR2, one of these days, and I've purposely not played it via emulation because I don't want to totally ruin the surprise.

I'll add my 2 cents on Victory Run: I enjoyed it. There is a bit of strategy involved with managing car parts (this might be annoying to some folks, but I think it adds a lot to the game). Also, learning the best way to handle the different terrains (savannah plains, desert sand) with manual transmission added a bit more depth than, say, Rad Racer or Final Lap Twin. But Victory Run isn't a "racetrack racer" like Rad Racer / Final Lap Twin.

I still haven't spent much time with the PCE versions of SCI, Chase HQ, Outrun, etc.

Motor Roader II is good.. Futuristic setting almost like F-Zero but in top down view. Nice presentation too but personally I find it too samey to the first game..

You probably love it if you really like the first one.  I like Motor Roader but I suck bad at playing these top down view racing games...

You should try it on emulation before you buy.. Thats what I've been doing recently because theres not much to find about certain games on the web.

I'm also looking to pick up more racing games for the PCE.
I owned Victory Run back in the day and would like to get it again.
Right now i have Final Lap Twin, Motoroader 2 and Outrun.  I can't tell you how MR2 compares because i've never played the first one.
I really wish there were more racing games for this system.
Fortunately i'm sure it's just a matter of time before some homebrew developers make a bunch of Arcade card racing games that are compatible with the Super Grafx and totally kick ass....*sigh*

people love the TG/PCE for the shooters and RPGS.  I doubt we'll ever see any more racing games.

i used to have Super Chase HQ on the SNES and it was absolutely terrible.
Has anyone here played both the SNES and TG16 versions?  Please tell me the turbochip is better.

My non-Turbo loving friends and I used to play Motoroader to death every lunch hour in high school until we got sucked into Bomberman.

Although it seems nowadays that Motoroader gets a bum rap online, its still one of my favorite games.

The only other Turbo/PCE racer that I can think of that I really got into is Final Lap Twin. Both the arcade and RPG modes are awesome.

I love Motoroader, but I used to not like it so much until I actually bought it a couple months ago and learned how to play it. Me and a couple of my bros has a lot of fun with it :D . I haven't played any of the racing games for CD though I have seen some screenshots for them and they look fun. That motorcycle racing game for PCE (HuCard) is also quite fun, I believe that's the "Racing Dreams" game someone mentioned. There is also another similar car racing game for PCE HuCard.

One game to avoid is F1 Pilot You're King of Kings. I'm only like 90% sure thats the game.

I bought it during a trip to the big city and boy was I dissapointed. Its like a really bad demo.

I still use the sky gradient as a reference to explain things like Playstation shading(psx's "true" transparencies have this haze across them).
