I shed a tear today - I need HUGS
« on: October 28, 2013, 07:19:07 AM »
So I am now missing a few boxes for my collection.   When I had to move, I had packed up some of my collection and left them at my parents house.   Today, I went in to grab them to dust them off and put them them on the shelf, to come to the sheer horror that some of my boxes were missing.

Apparently, my mother ended up cleaning the basement and ended up throwing a few of my boxes away that I guess I did not place with my other games.  Thinking that they were garbage because they were empty.  I can not be mad at her because she did not know any better, but a little of my childhood had died within me ...

Now, I am looking for boxes to a few of my games.... Some are going to be so hard to come by.... while others I imagine I can probably find CIB.

Missing in Action

Double Dungeons
Bonk's Adventure
Ys Book 1 & 2 w/Map (dieing a little more inside)
J.B. Harold Murder Club
Alien Crush
It is what it is and it will be what it will be!

Looking for some games, but I will prolly never find.  Sapphire, Magical Chase (US)

Yup, that's how I lost almost a decade of gaming magazines and strategy guides spanning 1988 - 1997 or so. All neatly organized on the shelf with polybags and everything. Literally as soon as I left for my freshmen year of college - BOOM, gone. Ah well. Good luck with reacquiring some of those boxes.

When I moved to the big city to attend film school, I couldn't take everything with me. So I left all my HuCard cases, boxes and manuals behind, as well as every issue of EGM and GamePro and various other game mags up till 1996 in my Turbo-CD box in my bedroom closet. I told my Dad that I'd bring back everything I could each trip home and to not touch anything. Several months later I remminded him on the phone and he told me he had already thrown everything out. That included the box and manual for Magical Chase.

While it's not game related, I had 2 long boxes of comics (mostly from the mid 80s) stored in my parent's garage when it was broken into.  They lost all of their power tools and I lost my comics. :(

Strangely they left the stacks of drawings on newsprint from my art college days. Little did they know some day I will be famous and those will be worth millions.

Dang, crazy stuff.  I've been lucky that my Mom has semi-hoarderish tendencies so nothing in my old room got thrown out unless I was the one doing it.  It's nice in a way because all my stuff is still there, but overwhelming in another way because there is a lot of stuff to sort through and figure out what I want and what can be pitched.

I lost a ton of gaming books and  comics as well to my parents. I got rid of a giant ps2 collection which i now regret. One part of it was every RPG (over 100) complete
