Ys 5 English translation released.
« on: November 13, 2013, 07:40:29 AM »
Ghideon Zhi at http://agtp.romhack.net/ says he's hoping to have the Ys 5 patch released on Thanksgiving day.

This gives me one extra thing to be thankful for at dinner!  I've been wanting to play Ys 5 in English since 19-something when first I read about it in a magazine.  After 4 didn't get released on Turbo CD or SNES I came to the assumption that Ys 5 wouldn't be released in the states.  Time proved me right of course.

I've been looking forward to an English translation for years and at long last the entire series will be playable in English.

Any body knows how to apply a patch to a game ? I wouldn't mind playing Ys 5 off my flash-cart.

thank you santa. This is my christmas gift. Though I probably wont play it till next christmas.

Im happier about Wizardry 4 gaiden an SNES exclusive, getting its translation released. I used to love doing speed and playing Wizardry 1-3 on the SNES .

I cant play Dungeon Crawlers unless Im on uppers. Same with Strategy RPGs. Need uppers.

Regular RPGs are more laid back and colorful , so I bust out the rasta and xanax for them.

Just finished the game.  I thought it was okay, I guess.  It was Really slow.  And if you used magic for, uh, well, anything really?  Then you just lose 30 seconds of time for almost zero damage.

There's stuff I like in the game but overall, when I think of Ys games I think of fast paced action rpgs.  This just felt slow.  I'm glad I played it though, I've been waiting for over a decade for an English translation.

Haha!  I've been waiting 18 years for a translation.  Glad to finally see this is out.  BTW it probably feels slow cause it's SNESified for the console market.  It seems anything that gets ported or made specifically for the SNES after being a series on another platform it feels slower.  Not saying it's the consoles fault but a design fault.  Regardless it's at least worth a play through.

A few times there'd be 4 enemies on screen at once and the thing would start to chug.  In fairness, I'm playing on an emulator and not on real hardware so I don't know exactly how it handles stuff like that...
