Ah, so would you have bought it if it wasn't a gift ?

Totally, I was actually debating getting another copy last week since I didn't know where the "gift" copy was.  But I mentioned it to my sister and she told me about it sitting in their house.

Anyone got any pics of some of the older Ys artwork for the original PC88/MSX games? Very tempted to buy this book!

I went to Amazon to try buying it and it said that I had to sign up for an account. So I went to eBay instead and bought it new/sealed for less plus free shipping.

The print quality is amazing and the artwork is reproduced so well that it's like looking at the books that come with the original computer versions of the early Ys games. I don't care about the newer Ys games, pretty much only the stuff through Dawn of Ys + Eternals. But it looks like they might have actually included every piece of artwork from all the Falcom versions of Ys - III, plus their soundtracks. Nothing from Dawn of Ys though.

Now people can have pics of brown haired chubby western Adol without tracking down the ancient computer games :)

I've been working on an "Ys Goods" video series that will have it's own mini site. I'll show every page of the book in 1080p video at least. Hard to believe the size and quality considering the price. Best of all, the English printing is very minimal. The most anti "moon language" people will be fine with the Japanese version, since there's not much of any English to miss out on.

Also got this a couple weeks back, I agree great quality and very cool, I was a little disapointed that there was not more older stuff in it (compared to all the new stuff) I still enjoyed it though since I played through all the pc games when they were translated (before steam). also if I were to get nitpicky I personaly would of like to had a little more info/text on the art and a little info on the games.

Thanks for all the info. Now I want this book even more.

But, please, can you share a nice scan of Chubby Western Adol (CWA)? I would love a high quality scan. Thank you in advance, comrade.

I'd have to cut up the book to do decent scans. I can probably scan the original PC-88 Ys book better, but this is how it turned out last time:

Finally got my copy from my sister!

Ys the Artbook by xelement5x, on Flickr

Ys the Artbook posed all classy like on my media cabinet.  The book display is normally used for my wife's copy of "The Sky: The Art of Final Fantasy" but I did a quick substitution for this photo.  :D
