PC Engine Bible Questions: Screenshots accurate?
« on: November 22, 2013, 02:28:28 AM »
Hey Everyone,

Here is a typical situation: I am looking for a game and I find one listed on the PC Engine Bible pages. The screen shots seem to show English is present in the game. For example, this game:

Is this an accurate screenshot? That is, the game has an option to enable English language? Or is this just a screenshot from the English version of the game? I know for games like Carmen Sandiego, there is an English option, so I'm hoping it's the same with other titles who's screenshot is in English.

I *usually* mark the screens as (US Version) if they are. Remember, many Japanese games have english in them, which is the case with Dungeon Master.

Really? If so that's awsome. It looks like that game is almost totally in English, or at least totally playable anyway.

That's because the game was written by round eye.

Dungeon Master is a USA based series. :)

Same reason why Wizardry on PCE has mostly English.

Well, some games like Sherlock Holmes have been totally translated into Japanese right?  Otherwise, how can Japanese players know what's going on? I would assume for RPG's especially, they would have translated it all, unless they left an English mode in the game.

You'd be surprised by how much English was left in PCE ports of gaijin RPGs.

Maybe we can make a list of RPG's which are totally playable due to having a majority of English left behind? I only know of this game to be honest. Are there any more?

Doh! How could I have missed that. Thanks! Hopefully we can add more to the list as we find them.
