Rambo IV !!!

I can't wait! Granted, there is no way it can compare to the previous films. NO WAY. But I still can't wait. I fear that the political undertones of Part IV will be as confused as those in Part II and Part III, but we'll have to wait and see...

I only recently learned that the original film was based on a book from the early 70's... and that in the book Rambo dies (among other changes).

First Blood, IMO, was a friggin' great film and is the only "cerebral" film of the three (not that any of them are actually cerebral, of course).

Part II and Part III are incredibly entertaining, but they are very different than the first. I saw part II first, of course, since it was a big hit when I was a kid. I didn't even know it was a sequel until a few years later.

First Blood is totally awesome. By the way, I didn't know there was originally a book version where Rambo dies, thanks a lot. That makes it a pretty cool ending in my opinion.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

So is the movie definitely going to be made? It's been rumored for years. I caught part of a Stallone interview on a radio show a couple months back where he talked about wanting to do another Rambo movie, but it wasn't definite back then.

I read the book back in high school. More than the ending is different. Rambo's character isn't as sympathetic in the book. Both the movie and book are great though, but I never cared much for the movie sequels.

First Blood and the first Rocky movie are pretty similar in that they're the only entries in the series that can be taken seriously as legitimately good movies.  The other Rocky/Rambo movies are awesome of course, but First Blood and Rocky were actually emotionally moving and had believable stories to tell, while the rest of the 2 series just got ridiculous and cheesy (but ultimate awesome).  I've always loved First Blood, I've thought about reading the book for ages but just never got around to it.

Yes, I never thought about the Rocky films this way-- but you're right! I even enjoyed the Rocky where he trains "Tommy Machinegun"or something like that...only to be betrayed by his protoge. IIRC, there was a goofy caricature of boxing promoter Don King in that film. What can I say? I'm a sucker for the Rocky formula.

I always thought Cobra EDIT: No, not Cobra, but rather NIGHTHAWKS (1981) was an awesome movie. AWESOME. I can't believe it didn't become another super-mega-hit. Rutger Hauer ruled, Stallone's portrayal of a gritty cop was great, and when Billy D. was killed I crapped my pants (I didn't think he would ever die).

Holy crap, you know I've never actually seen Cobra!  I had totally forgotten about that movie, now I need to go see if I can rent or download it.  I thought I had seen all the Stallone classics (Over the Top being one of the best/most ridiculous).

That's all the content for that url? One sentence? Well, I found the current plotline, but still one sentence: "Vietnam vet John Rambo is forced to emerge from his reclusive lifestyle and take justice into his own hands after a girl goes missing."

Boy, that's original. Anyway, I've enjoyed Rocko's movies over the years as well. Whether he can pull another Rambo movie off though, I dunno. Isn't he getting too old for this? OH, pffft, it says in his filmography he's in post-production for another Rocky movie!

"Cobra" btw, I think I've seen, but it was too long ago to remember much of anything. I remember a bit of "Over the Top," and "Tango & Cash."

Rutger Hauer and Billy D Williams were not in Cobra, check the imdb for the cast list. The kid in that last Rocky that played the Tommy Gun character,if not dead yet,is dying of aids. He is from Arkansas and Oklahoma,we used to see him around alot in the early 90ies in Little Rock, usually once every 2-3 months doing something downtown.

Usually he was screwed up on drugs. He made the local paper a few times.

Also Brigitte Nielsen, who played the woman victom Cobra had to protect, also played Red Sonya, and played a character in Rocky IV. She and Stalone were also married for a few years until it was made public she was bi-sexual. Soon after they were divorced. She is still very popular in Europe and hangs out alot with Flavor Flav of all people.

Her IMDB profile:

Flava is huge, he has his own reality show now.  That chick that played Red Sonya got HUGE FAT and hideously ugly though, it's pretty sad.

Flav and Bridget at a party event of some sort. There are other pics of the two of them together at other events if you look around the net or on IMDB on her profile pictures. She used to credit him for saving her life once or some nonsense. They have been good friends for the past few years.

I was thinking more along the lines of nightmare ugly.

BTW,here is your Tommy "Gun" guys profile, talks a bit about him living here and his other crap, his drug probs, which some he still pretends to not have had, even though I remember him quite well flunking drug test for multiple drugs a few different times in our state when he got busted, extreme speedball user. He is a complete dumass,a f*ck up,a wash out,ect... Im surprised he is even married with someone now. While you may not feel the way I do about this, but he has been seen claiming that same old claim of"God saved me" at different money making churches in the south.

What the heck movie am I thinking about in which Stallone's a NYC cop, Billy D is his partner, and Rutger Hauer is the evil nemesis intent on wreaking havoc?
