So far, I rank Bomberman '93 over all others for single player campaign, though I haven't played any of the snes/sfc versions yet.
Bomberman '94 is second in my book. There's more of everything (except no save feature, but the code is only 4 characters) but it's not as much fun as '93, imo.
I picked up the Bomberman GB (Game Boy) and Bomberman Max 2: Blue Advance (GBA) earlier this year, but neither stands up to tg/pce offerings. Though I haven't put a ton of time into either, so maybe I'll change my mind. I don't care for the isometric look of the GBA one. And if I remember, the later levels of the GB one have random spaces that instantly blow up dropped bombs, which you have to memorize. Seems kind of cheap.
Saturn Bomberman has bosses that are hard as nails. After nearly throwing my controller multiple times (and only making it to the second boss) I've put that game on hiatus. The levels are fun, and it looks and sounds great, but those bosses.... ugh.
