Super Hucard
« on: December 18, 2013, 03:27:37 PM »
So, probably the coolest thing ever...

Super Hucard (I don't want to link to it, as there are "Roms" on the site in the downloads)

I did a quick google search and didn't see this posted per say here. Anyone use this back in 2003?

search for Zeograd's Lair if you don't know what I'm talking about.

I can remember dloading this, but apparantly it only worked on the OG hardware, not emulation (using system card 1 ??). Never got round to testing it as I didn't want to stick cdrs in my cdrom2.

For those lacking a flash card, the Super HuCard is really quite cool.  I'm sure it's been discussed before, especially in the dev section of these forums.  But beyond the coolness of the dude(s) who did the per-game hacking and the menu, there's not much more to discuss,... is there?

Hi ccovell,

I like your work. Man of many talents.

It reminds me of the Neo Geo MVS to CD conversions done back in the day. I like being able to play games in one easy way at times, too bad that START+SELECT doesn't reboot the machine, just the game itself.

Like Chris said, it's been discussed many times.  It's neat and all, but it being limited to smaller games and the number of games that don't work properly without hacking render it rather pointless.

The Everdrive and other flash carts have made this so obsolete. 10 years ago it was a cool idea as we really didn't have any flash carts (that I knew of back then) but not really practical nowadays.

The concept is cool, but the last team (not the original team) used an automated tool to hack the bank switch instructions. Unfortunately, no one went over them to make sure everything works (most don't fully play to the end). I started fixing roms in it, then realized it was a waste of time. The end.

But yeah, it's a novelty/proof of concept thing. The real kicker, is for hacking. Taking a single 'rom', you could hack that rom to load additional data/graphics/stages/tiles/etc. Or even add CD musics in place of the chiptunes (probably thee easiest thing to hack on this roms).
