Ys I & II PCE - The Last Moment of the Dark

That's all I'll say about that.  :)

That song is fantastic, as is the song while actually fighting Dark Fact. Perhaps my favorite video game music of all time.

Yea, the entire TGCD Ys Book I & II OST pretty much take a huge, steaming shit on all other video game soundtracks created before or after it.  All of them.  Lords of Thunder, Rondo of Blood, Gate of Thunder, Streets of Rage, Tempest 2000, Viewpoint, <insert whatever game here>.  ALL.  OF.  THEM.

Agreed.

Now, folks here have argued that Ys III is better than Ys I & II, but that is nonsense.  Ys III is awesome, yes. But two games (I & II) of utterly amazing music simply push ahead of the admirable Ys III.

BACK ON TOPIC: But, before Ys I & II, there was this...

The opening sequence/overworld music tracks to Tengai Makyo II were done by Joe Hisaishi, the guy who did most of Studio Ghibli's music. They sound so much like him that you could probably play them blind to someone who only knew his Ghibli stuff and they'd guess it.

Personally, I think the overworld music is about as good as any RPG track I've ever heard.
