Price check on Super Famicom
« on: January 08, 2014, 01:20:34 AM »
A retro gaming store just opened near my house, as always they carry lots of SNES stuff and they had their Super Famis for $150, complete. No box.  I have to swing by and see the system in person, but in the pics, the console looked in good shape with no yellowing that I could see.

Is $150 a decent price?

Ive seen boxed systems sell for 5000-8000 yenny so after shipping (which with the AC brick makes it too heavy for anything other than EMS) its about $100-130

Id say $150 has a $20-30 profit margin

That's good to know. They seem pretty cool, so I'm gonna see if I can haggle on the price and get some games with it too.

At least it seems we have a decent retro store, even if they have avg internet prices.

Thanks Ope

That's really high, man. For that price it would have to be NIB I would think. Getting a minty non-yellowed SFC is getting a little harder these days, but that is just ridiculous.

I got one from Yamatoku off eBay, complete in box (though a tad yellowed) for about $110 IIRC. Non-EMS shipping put it maybe at $130.

You can probably find a loose SFami on eBay for less than $80 if you tracked enough auctions.

Loose SFC systems are like $20 - $30 here.

anything over 50 bucks for a lose one should be considered very high. now a 100% CIB in super condition on the other hand is a different rabbit hole.

Found another one, no box, no power cord, one controller and a/v cables for $65 and free shipping. Can't I use a US power cord?

I think the SNES power jack is unique to it and the Virtual Boy, but the SFC uses a generic barrel jack.  I'd be you can find something with similar specs pretty easily.
