MegaMan X collection for the Gamecube
« on: January 09, 2014, 08:01:36 AM »
Yes, No, maybe so?

I haven't played a single one of these games before and was considering picking it up. I've heard that X7 was crappy, but the others were good. Most folk seem to say that X3 was the best.

The sprite work is stunning!

It depends, the gamecube controllers are awful for me.  I hate them when trying to play anything not specifically designed for them.

On the Mega Man original collection for GC they switched the shoot and jump buttons... I literally had to stop playing at that point and sell it/return it.  Do you know if the MMX collection has that button layout as well?

I have MMX and MMX2 on SNES and MMX4 and MMX5 on PSX- they're for the most part pretty good-great games.  So if it's cheap (and it should be!) go for it!

No, you're thinking of X7, a damn terrible game and the pseudo-3D segments absolutely blew. X8 was a return to form, I hear, but I haven't played it myself. I'm ok stopping my X collection with X6.

Yes, but get a better controller, you'll need it. I used a ps2 controller with an adapter.

Ps2 one is firt cheap and better controls. I would get that.

Btw though, x3 and x4 are ps1 versions, not saturn.

Don't got a PS2 anymore. I had no idea there was an adapter for the ps2 controller.
I believe the control setup can be customized.

MMX collection is fine on the gamecube and it has the correct button layout to.Though, the best way to play it is using a hori digital controller or a snes to gc controller adapter.

Yeah, but I don't have a PSX anymore and for the price of those two I can get the collection. I think.

X1 and X2 are SNES, not PSX, and they're really cheap Japanese imports if you have a SNES or SFC.

I honestly prefer playing the PS2 collection for the simple fact the controllers are much better for Mega Man games. But if you want the true experience, there's absolutely nothing like playing the first three games on a SNES, the SNES controller is best for them. As for X4 and beyond, I could really give a crap less about those, I didn't really like anything after X3. You might enjoy 'em though.
