Pioneer Laserdisc player (LD-717) Problem/Cry for help

I've got a Pioneer LD-717 Laserdisc player, which is an older model Pioneer player I picked up from a thrift for a good price a couple years back.

When I first got it it would play LDs without any issues, now there seems to be some problem getting the discs to start.  When I pulled it out the closet the other night and set it up, it played the LD perfectly fine the first time I tried it.  Then when I tried with a different disc I got the distinctive clicking shown in this video, then it happened with just about any disc that was put in. 

I think is is a problem with getting the disc to start spinning, because if you let it sit there long enough it appears to go to a black video screen that never changes.

Any suggestions or advice is much appreciated!

It will need to be serviced by a repair tech. There are still a few out there that can do it. Just be prepared to pay some cash. It could be the motor, it could be some small part has ground it self down over the years also. Its hard to figure out what is going on without actually being there in person and viewing the problem from different angles.

Whelp, after talking with BlueBMW for a bit the other day I spent some time today trying to troubleshoot it a bit more since I doubted I would ever pay for servicing. 

So, it was a bit weird, that part that was making the tic tic noise must be slightly out of alignment.  When I started everything up again this time I pushed it down a bit and then that got the disc spinning and working. Thinking I was on to something I stopped it and then replicated the steps multiple times by doing the same thing to make sure it was rolling.  Once it started running fine there were no issues continuing to play a disc. 

The main reason of messing around with this really really old player is because I wanted to see if it could play the video on LA discs, which it can!
