Games you consider Underrated?

I absolutely adore Shinobi Legions on the Sega Saturn.

The digitized graphics are definitely a bit cheesy (and the live action cut-scenes are absolutely ridiculous), but it all adds to the early/mid-90s nostalgia fun. The gameplay is fun, the controls are responsive, and the boss battles offer some really fun challenges.

I would definitely recommend this gem to anyone who enjoyed the barrage of ninja platformers in the late 80s/early 90s

I agree!  I'd also like to add that while the US version of this game can be a little pricey, the Japanese version (Shin Shinobi Den) can be had much, much more affordably.

NES: Al Unser Jr Turbo Racing

You know, this is generally a game I see for around $1 or less actually.  You saying it's a pretty good game?
Might have to pick this one up..

Overall, I think racing games on the older systems are not given much attention. This one is pretty neat, and it has some replay value. It controls pretty well, the graphics are good, it has good sound effects, I love the music (only four melodies but they are fantastic). It is more challenging when you create a driver.

This game uses a battery to save your progress, and while you could finish it in one sit, I think it is more enjoyable if you make your own driver and make your car more powerful race after race.

Data East games on the NES are hit or miss (Karate Champ, Robocop 2) and that maybe another reason why this one was overlooked.

I live old racing games. It's just fun to start from crappy car and slowly upgrade it into awesome car. Though sometimes, that first race or Grand Prix is just too hard for crappy car, and then the game's not very fun. I saw Al Unser a few times at a local store here. I might have to pick it up should I happen across it again.

Absolutely! The US version just seems to keep climbing and climbing in price over the past couple of years. :/ And from what I understand the Japanese version is nearly identical to the US release.
