(2/12/2014 - 2/18/2014) Game of the Week: Somer Assault
« on: February 12, 2014, 05:03:55 AM »

---------------------------------------------------
February 12 - February 18: Somer Assualt
---------------------------------------------------

(Chosen by BigusSchmuck)

Not a single game store in my small hometown in Montana carried TG-16 stuff during its heyday. It wasn't until the internet and eventually emulation years later that I got my first taste of this system. I can still remember starting up an old version of Magic Engine with the five minute time limit, and guess what game I picked first? Yep, it was this one. I don't think I played it long, but I can still remember it.

Now that I've got many Turbo clears under my belt, I'm giving this one another shot, and this time on real hardware. I'm definitely looking forward to trying this again with a better perspective on it!

---------------------------------------------------

This game would be awesome if there wasn't a timer.

I have played this game today and I just cannot get into it. Not sure why, maybe I will give it another blast later.  So far I can only get to level 3!

Agree that the timer does seem to get in the way of exploration.

The game of the week thread was a great idea as it is making me play some of the titles that have  been sitting in my collection, just like this one O:)

Does anyone have any tips on the final boss?

Love this game and I can breeze through it, then the boss at the end kicks my ass.  She is smokin', maybe I am just distracted...

So you are saying you couldn't beat the last boss either nullity?  It is annoying to have to go through the whole game again to give it another try, a level select for this game would be amazing.

Anyone else have any luck?  I am legitimately curious if anyone has some good tips.  The rest of the game is really easy, it is odd how much the last boss ramps up the difficulty curve.

From gamefaqs:

Every enemy you kill will leave a 1-Up:   Pause and unpause the game 100 times

Start at the last boss:   At the screen where you are asked to input your birthday hold Down + Button I and press Run

Apparently I am too dumb to use le Google search...  thanks for the codes!

The bad news is I have to play this game again, the good news is I will have 100 trys to beat the last boss.

My biggest gripe of this gem is that it's too easy. Other than that what a gem.
