I'm in.  This cannot be avoided
NW: Hey, I made it on this psycho's Enemies' List, how about that ?? ;)

BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere.

You can't tell most retro gamers anything!

Spenoza: The wannabe masculinity just overwhelms.

I never heard of this game, which makes me want it more!

I also read The Ultimate History of Video Games and I recommend it to all.

Another great video game book: the dude who wrote up his personal experiences porting Rampage and R-Type to the Speccy. That was such a fun read. And it is free, .pdf, at author's website. He's not a professional author, per se, but his prose was excellent...the pacing was perfect, and enough technical details were included (instead of glossing them over) to help readers better appreciate the specific coding challenges faced.

BUT NOW I THINK YOU, GALAM, WERE THE ONE WHO POSTED ABOUT THIS ORIGINALLY. So, damn it.

I haven't read any video game-history games in awhile but I remember really digging Zap!: The Fall and Rise of Atari, Game Over: Press Start to Continue and The First Quarter: A 25-year History of Video Games bitd.

Masters of Doom?   Read it.

I actually haven't read racing the beam. I always looked at it on amazon, just never grabbed it
I'm reading the Rise and Fall of Sega right now, which is pretty good.

I finished reading the "draft" copy that was sent out to the Kickstarter backers...got my hard cover edition last week that has some additional stuff added to it at the end. Not a bad book, though it gets a little fanboyish in places.

This is the one I'm really psyched about though: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/darrenwall/sega-mega-drive-genesis-collected-works?ref=live

I forgot to mention in my previous post, no need to add me to the raffle.  I have a feeling it wouldn't get much play time. :P

A book I've read a couple of times that would make an awesome video game is Vurt. I didn't care for the sequel quite as much, but this one is a trip!

Stuff that hasn't been mentioned... tough...

THen again, you didn't specify nonfiction so...

Hmm...

How about:

A surprisingly good novelization of the game.

Or going the other way:

A suprisingly BAD novelization of the game. (Though oddly entertaining for just how bad they screwed up the story and characters)
