You folks are assuming that he only has three cases of games! Clearly, what he showed us is just "the minty collection" -- I bet there are 1-2 more cases with opened, non-minty games for daily use.

Tangent: there was another fellow, from the UK (England, I think), who had tons of minty fresh hardware in pristine boxes... are you the same person? I ask only because that was one of the few times I've been floored by the breadth and quality of a PCE collection.

Well, he listed 481 games.

Each case can hold, at most 5x35 CDs (single case) = 175 CDs, so 3 cases is 525, and by the time you discount the games that came in double CD cases, I would guess that the number is pretty close to that 481 number.

For the record, George Palamara had a complete PCE collection, and was trying to get new copies of as many PCE games as he could, as a supplement to his "playable" versions.

My collection is of 884 unique PCE/Duo titles -- and 99.7% of them are used.  There are a few unopened ones in there -- but that is only because I received unopened ones and sold off the earlier opened ones... I have played every single PCE game that I own.

That's what I was wondering as well and was the first person I thought of as soon as I read this thread. The way he lists them as ".... NEW" with the periods and all was remarkably similar to that other poster :D .

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

The best picture is here:  http://bt.mindrec.com/pcegames_home.jpg
that also has the 75 (or so) unique PC-FX titles that I have.  For
reference, the top of the PC-FX clamshell cases is about five and a half
feet high.  The rack is just a touch under 4 feet wide, if I recall.

From a couple of different angles:

More detailed pics can be provided is those are insufficient (but that is
all I have at the moment).  I can also provide a text list of the PCE
collection, if you are really interested... and keep in mind that 884
number does not include HuCard or CD Prototypes that I also own.

If you don't mind me asking bt, is your collection insured? I've always wondered how collections of things like videogames would be handled by most (non-specialized) insurance policies. I used to have a fairly large anime laserdisc collection a decade ago (about 400 imported discs), and I was concerned about how to insure it because I spent considerably more on those LDs than I did on videogames. I was surprised that it fell under my normal policy; my agent just recommended I keep receipts and take pictures of the collection in case I ever needed to make a claim.

It is, actually.  we have a special rider on our home insurance for what equates to "Excessive Home Computer Equipment."

That's cool with me! Just make sure you feed me the Pedigree food with the little rice things in it, those taste nice.

Shouldn't we instead be asking *why* he already knows that the food
tastes good?

And I don't even want to think about what the vet is going to say.... or
the county when I try to get that new dog license.
