And then we'll never hear from you again..... unless you're gonna work on a complete CD collection.

You're wrong. I'll be here, believe me. I might not post much unless I have something useful to contribute, but I'll be here.

Like I said, we won't hear from you.  You'll likely never have anything of substance to offer.

I used to think mc was expensive when I saw it for 250, I swore I wouldnt/couldn't spent that money on a single game,  I'd jump on one for 250 now.  I remember I paid 60 for the magical chase manual, at the time i was going to turn it down, seemed stupid to spend 60 on a manual, wtf is wrong with me spending that, now I'd pay that to get one in the condition I'd like.   In another few years I hate to think what mc will cost.  I guess what I don't understand is if people think mc isn't a good game, then do you really care what it sells for, if just one game in a collection was as expensive as mc, but is a shitty game, then does it matter?  Or is it just that its shitty due to the price :)

The problem I have is other games going up in price, so if the price increases were just around mc then really it's just going to impact the collector who wants a complete set, not the player who wants to play the good games.  I'd take rtype or tonma game play wise over mc any day of the week.

People who don't think its good and do want it, want it for one of two reasons.

1. To complete a English collection.
2. Because some people just want anything rare.

Both of which in my opinion are not good reasons. I hate when people say " I want that game, it's just so rare." Games are meant to be played not displayed. That's why I hate sealed collecting and VGA grading bull $h1t.

As far as rare Turbografx games and prices are concerned, it's not going to get better. People can complain about people raising prices with impulse eBay purchases, but it is the destiny of the games to climb in value, at least as long as there is working hardware to enjoy it. And with the rapid progression of clone consoles this may not be in our lifetime. We are having this exact discussion over at Digitpress, and its not just Magical Chase and Dynastic Hero. Its all rare or good games, specifically RPG's and SHMUPS. Many games have doubled up to 5X. Panzer Dragon Saga, Hagane, Earthbound, Shining Force CD, Keio Flying Squadron, and pretty much every Neo Geo AES & MVS title. Video games are following the same paths as all collectable items. Comics, baseball cards, vinyl records, coins, etch

If MC or Dynastic Hero raise in price so what. Because unlike all those SNES common RPG squaresoft titles and Earthbound, at least they are genuinely rare titles. If any games deserve to be insanely priced it's these 2 games. Actual rare games commanding high prices is not annoying, its expected as is any rare collectible item. Things could be much worse, try collecting Beatles records on vinyl, or 1950'svand earlier baseball cards. What is annoying are effing Nintendo fan boys driving up extra common good games like Chrono Trigger, every Final Fantasy, and Earthbound.

These are dark days for getting into game collecting. Especially with the economy. Would you rather spend 20 bucks at the movies for 2.5 hours? Or invest $50.00 in a rare retro game worth unlimited hours of enjoyment? People want the most cost effective bang for their buck and reliving your childhood is the perfect way to do so. But once you get a taste of retro gaming you always look for that next fix. That's when people tend to get out of hand and start spending crazy amounts.

So whats your reasoning for wanting a US copy of MC? If you truly dislike people who just buy games because they are rare, and you want MC because you want to play it. Why not just get the PCE version?

lol@completing English collections.

The problem is, many people with money are ignorant as balls about this stuff.   Like I said, it's self centered.

and people who buy rare ass games aren't reliving their childhood because most of them are f*ckups that never played the game in their youth, so there is no nostalgia.   Just pure stupidity.

The only game I'd be willing to pay $5k for would be PC Cocoron. Then again, I'd spend 100 times that for that game, if I had it to spend. It's going to be lost forever and that makes me sad. :( Magical Chase wouldn't get $50 out of me.

PC Cocoron is a different story.   Especially because if anyone here bought it, it would quickly turn into a boot project so everyone can have the goddamn game instead of one a$$hole that won't give it up.

I don't have a burning desire to own MC. But I do Dynastic Hero again. Put a complete copy of each in my face and tell me to take one for free and it would be Dyna without a thought. As far as why I want it, It actually was a game from my late childhood. I originally picked up MC and Dyna right after high school late 1999 early 2000. It was a point in my life when I was young (19), had a full time job, and living at home before deciding to make the move to Columbus OH to attend Ohio State  University. Now when turbo first came out I was very young, but did score one without a cd unit. Only had Keith courage, China warrior, and Dungeon explorer. The turbo and the neo were the 2 consoles that growing up were hard to obtain. When I picked up MC , dyna, and pretty much every other rare English title around 2000, I spent a long time enjoying them. Magical Chase was a game I enjoyed very much. I even wrote a faq, along with dungeon explorer 2. Sadly I lost the Magical Chase faq but managed to find the Dungeon Explorer 2 Faq and post it on gamefaqs.com years later. I personally would give MC 4 turbo chips out of 5. And I would love to own it again in some form. But 2k is ridiculous. However I have a bunch of sought after games and would be willing to trade toward one if I had the chance. That is why I posted on the neo forums. If I ever have a chance of getting either game it would be there because of the stuff I am willing to trade. I will probably just get the  Japanese version since I already ordered a turboeverdrive. It is pretty dumb to pay 2k cash for a game, and if I remember the graphical uphaul is only the first level.

the graphical upgrade is also not really that important, all things considered.

It's also a like, 45 minute game.  It's hardly even worth the JP pricetag anymore.

You get dumb looking bridges and a better looking castle instead of out of place tetris blocks and a rape-barn in the background.   Whoopeeedooooo, lol.

Just get the JP one and put it in a USA box from Sparky.   Done.  Nobody will know!

You prove a valid point. It is super short. And quite easy. I would rather play gate or lords of thunder anyday. It will be a long time till I get a Japanese copy. It will prolly be 1k by then cause there are too many good super CDs to get first and I can't everdrive those.

OP seems like a decent enough fellow, so if getting the game makes him happy, then good for him.  I personally don't get the need to buy a $5k game that you can just play on original hardware using a flash cart, nor do I get the need to have a "complete" collection of anything.  Now that the Turbo Everdrive is a thing, I really don't give a rip how much HuCards cost because I'm done buying them unless a good deal comes along (I already have a nice-sized library of games).  The bummer for me is the CD games like Dungeon Explorer II and Dynastic Hero, because I prefer not to play burns.
