I also want to get DE II, one day.  For now, I think I'll follow the advice here and nab a copy of the import version to hold me over, but I'd love to get the US version too.  It's something I've wanted ever since it was featured in Turboplay/Turboforce/DuoWorld (whichever it was at the time).

More importantly though, DE 1 is something I need to reacquire, it's one the US Hu-Cards I used to have as a kid, but I don't anymore.  My collection is mostly CD/SCD games right now, but luckily I had the sense to keep a few of my other good games like Blazing Lazers and Parasol Stars.

Is there any evidence that playing burned games causes any extra wear on the system? I use verbatim discs and burn with Imgburn. It's free and easy to use. I've yet to have a problem.

This may cause a shitstorm...... :-$  :-"

The system is dead, NEC is not making them anymore and they are not producing the games anymore. I will say I prefer to have the actual product but I don't see why this is any different then the Turbo EverDrive which no one seems to have a problem with people using that so why have a problem with burned discs?

Bernie was alluding to the long standing debate over whether or not CDRs can damage a console, totally unrelated to any moral issues of burning discs, which most peeps here don't mind one bit.

I stand corrected, sorry for adding confusion to the post

Dead by commercially corporate standards, yes. But very far from dead in every other aspect.

And no, OP, I will not sell you DEII, as I do not own it. Sad face.
Nothin beats the real thing.

Any disc having issues will make the system work harder
Burnt discs are fine when they read easy, if your having loading issues/audio dropouts the system is having trouble reading.
A damaged original will be just as bad
