I'm not exactly a regular there, but I enjoy chatting with cdamm and rot occasionally and check up on some conversations threads.  Never had issues with members and every transaction I've attempted there has worked without issue.

Would have sucked if another option like n-g.com would have gone under for good.  Glad to see it's back up.

The guy I bought my first AES from got gutted and eviscerated publicly on the forums over there for what seemed to be a minor issue with another transaction...like literally something that was a mistake that people took out of context and lynched him over. That was my first indication that I didn't want to spend too much time there...

Oh yeah they do that!  However I got my first AES modded by JMKURTZ with bios and s-video over a decade ago.  It started my love affair with SS2.  My hod it's a perfect game.

Meh, I have it on my Neo Geo CDZ. Why bother with an inferior cart version, when you can have not only perfect gameplay AND perfect arranged music?

Off topic, but I got SamSho III. So different than SamSho II. Any tips?

Inferior cart version?  Ever try to play KOF 99 on any cd system including the CDZ?  I'm not a huge fan of the re-arranged music but I get it's appeal.  Anyone who touts cd over the carts for any other reason besides cost is in deep denial.  However I think as long as you gave an AES or Mvs a cd system is a great addition but my god the loading takes away the arcade experience completely which is what the neo is about.  Lost frames of animation, smaller sprites for what?  An art page?  Training in metal slug?  Not worth it, a curiosity at best and I have a CDZ, it collects dust unless I feel like playing view point.

Again, it depends. I said Samurai Shodown II is better because of soundtrack, but load times are very bearable (like 15 sec per character, and maybe 5 if you died). KOF 96 is unbearable in team mode, but is good in single character mode.

I have SSIII On my AES and MVS.  It's damn near broken meaning A solid hit removes 55% of life in some characters.  The hit box is wonky as well, just a tip counts as a full hit.  That said come hard and fast, I use the main protagonist and just litter the field with the projectile storm or cheap sliding kicks followed by weak stabs.  This isn't a chess match like 2 do you really need to be aggressive.

The folks over at neo-geo.com actually fixed the game to make the damage less and the hotbox smaller,as is an entire match can be done in under a min.

I've only played it once so far due to its difficulty. The hit box is strange, though. You can be standing right next to your opponent, but any slash will not register.

Well it is VERY hard.  If you really want send the game to the folks over at www.neo-geo.com and they can "Fix" the game for you.  Otherwise it's a real blood fest and he brave and ultra-violent are rewarded with victory.

EvilEvoIX, do you know if the Neo Geo CD version supports a patch?

Also, any general tips for playing the game, besides being offensive? I am playing as Amakusa (he is my favorite villain in the series). I can get past a few opponents, but some combos from the enemy do inconsistent damage. Also, how do I get used to using the AB dodge? The teleports work ok, but how can I throw my enemy?

I doubt it.  I am sure it is possible but the MVS Cart is cheap enough I say just go for that.  Try Pressing BC together for a close attack.  Throwing an enemy you have to press towards your enemy and throw by attacking close. You really need to read all the controls and practice a specific strategy you are comfortable with.  Neo Fighting games have extreme depth and just can't be button mashed.

Well, I guess I managed to beat it today, lol. Level 4 difficulty (normal)

I used Slash Amakusa. Used a strategy where I would use crouching medium slash when an opponent jumped. Also, I learned that Amakusa could wall jump, so I already became better. Leg slide is useful sometimes.

I've only really used teleports and fireballs. I'm not sure how use to utilize my moves. Future playthroughs maybe.

The hardest characters I think are probably Rimururu (her ice spirit) and Gaira (he is extremely strong, though slow)

Zankuro is probably the only true character where I can button mash a lot. It took a few tries, but I only used strong slash during the battle with him. Zankuro's AI doesn't seem to adapt much.

Neo Fighters Rule, they border on RPGFighting Games.  SSIV has a timer where you need to get to the end before your nemesis does or you have to fight him after he dispatches the boss.  Such amazing depth and style.  I have V as well, another amazing game with gruesome fatalities.

I will give it that the giant drama threads are absolutely hilarious.
I love the Messy Mod Work thread, it was largely responsible for driving Drakon and his horrible mod work off much of the web and should serve as a great inspiration for beginning modders on what not to do.

That's one of the three I had in mind. I was quite pleased when having joined here to see you and others laughing him out of town here too.

The messy mod work is a great thread. Having less than zero mod skills it's kind of a background check for me in case I do need some work done.

I just feel comfortable there. Most new people fit in there fine. I notice those who don't, seem to have issues wherever they go. Post something outlandish calling it a fact, get called out when it's proven wrong and argue incessantly that you're right while insulting others.
