Ys Book 2 burnland boss
« on: March 15, 2014, 10:56:36 AM »
So I've tried hitting the arsehole in the face/mouth (Boss in Ys Book II in the Burnland area) when the snake starts to go back in his mouth, yet never any damage is taken.

What am I doing wrong.... 16 deaths later.

Thanks

Did you attack it with fire magic? It's been a while since I played, it took me a while to figure out how to hurt him.

You have to hit the bottom of the mouth/body while the mouth is open.

You can it being done at 48:20 in this video:

I used fire magic after looking up a playthrough on utube. it's strange, I don't do any damage. The hit boxes for some of these bosses are BAD....

Maybe you aren't high enough level? Ys can be REALLY strict about minimum levels to beat a boss, if you are too low you might not even be able to damage them.

Is it making the no-damage sound effect? If so you need to increase your level until you can hurt it. That video gives you an indication of one level high enough to do damage.

After my last post, I ended up leveling up, I've got a few levels before 50 (like the video guy has), so we'll see if I can do damage. I've been using the transform wand and avoiding fights in the burnland lol... I guess that was a bad idea...

I just finished Ys book 1 and 2 for the first time ever and leveling up is a must in this game. The instruction manual is useful too because it has much more information about what the items do than the in game description. Of course I'm sure you can find that online.

I use the guides from gamefaqs to help a lot. I started playing through the Famicom trilogy, to see all the differences. Anyone here play those yet?
