WTB-NES RPGs
« on: March 15, 2014, 05:23:29 PM »
I am looking for Dragon Warrior 1 & 2, plus Final Fantasy for the NES. Bundled with sleeves would be nice, but as long as they are in good shape I won't care. Please be sure that the batteries work too. Thanks for looking, my friends. :)

I have Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior I, but I guess I'm not willing to give them up for sentimental reasons even though I'll probably never fire them up on a console. I got started on RPGs because of those titles and I won a Nintendo Power contest that sent me a copy of Dragon Warrior, with special guidebook and poster. On the other hand, it's a shame to just leave carts lying around collecting dust that you'll probably never use for ages and would settle for an emulator anyway if you ever got the itch. I do wanna get that flashcart for SNES and in exchange give up most of my originals I'm not attached to in that case, but I hadn't thought about it for NES though. I like owning the original gold-colored "The Legend of Zelda" cart for example. That's history right there!

Anyway, I take it these games were some of what was lost because of your brother's thieving that you want back ?

Wait a minute, you "won" the dragon warrior with guide and poster?  Wasnt that given away with a paid subscription to NP at one point?  They made waaaay to many DW carts that didnt sell so they got creative and gave it away with subscriptions. Unless you have something different.

Hmmm, maybe my memory is foggy... You could be right. I remember what I did to win the TG-16 contest, answer 5 questions on Nintendo game endings, but I can't remember exactly in this case other than it involving Nintendo Power somehow.

EDIT: OK, so I googled it, yeah, it was a Limited Time Giveaway if you renewed your NP subscription.

Although some of the games stolen are still in the ether never to return most NES RPGs are games I didn't have growing up. I have been playing the fan translation of Dragon Quest 1&2 on Super Famicom and I would like to try out the originals. As for Final Fantasy I just want to try it out after all these years.

The false memory of winning those Dragon Warrior carts a is actually pretty common. A really good friend of mine swears that he won that game in a contest.

I recently upgraded my copy of Dragon Warrior 1 to the "Subscription Version" so I have an extra copy that I've been trying to get rid of. It has the box, manual, explorer's handbook (strategy guide), and of course, the cart. It doesn't have the maps and charts, though.

It's in pretty good condition and I can also replace the battery for you. What do you think? :)
