lol, I play C64 games that load of floppies, so CD loading isn't even slow.

Hahah Arkhan,

I never even put floppies in there, forgot all about them, but yes I do remember loading floppy disks to play games.... Damn how could I have forgotten, Spoiled by solid state :-)

The Playstation has a new flashcart coming soon.  Plugs into the rear port, and will play backups from SD card.  :)

you got a link for more info on this?

So how about the C64 Datasette?
Start to load game...
Eat lunch
Take a shower
Short Nap

Error, reload tape....

Thankfully my time with tapes was short and I got a pair of 1541's pretty quickly, and later on the speed load cart.

Since we're moving in the direction of tapes & floppies, some of my earliest gaming memories were with my dad's C64. I think he had the tape attachment, but I don't remember using it. We always used the floppy drive. He did some programming of his own for it, mostly shapes and colors learning games for my sister and I, but he also made the equivalent of multicarts for the thing, putting about 4 games per side of the disk. I think he also found ways to speed up the loading time on them too.

I miss the character of old carts. In fact, I made a blog post about it a few years ago (complete with pictures!):

Some of those old-school carts were amazing!

The Commodore 64 was my first game system, essentially.  Right up until I got my TG-16, in fact, it's what I played games on.  Those load times are not missed!  Thank god for emulation in the case of the C64.

There are still some CD based games that I want, but I want to focus on cartridges again because I just feel like they are gonna outlast the CD games overall.  Re-collecting some of my favorite Hu-cards is first on my list, in fact, although I'm not looking to complete the whole set or even go for some of the rarer ones.  Most of the ones I want to get again are thankfully pretty common.  Can't say the same for some of the CD games I want though (*cough*DEII*)
