if the pc engine/duo was to be remade ( ie, like neo geo x) new features?

would be emulated like the neo geo x? would it have rgb and component video as standard (ie, multi video/audio port) as well as hdmi?

4 players as standard?  would the inclusion of sd card or custom memory card as well as the hucard and cd rom drive be a benefit?

wired and Bluetooth option? or even dual shock compatible?

or ultimately, would it have the same issues with classic console remakes, ie, dodgy image quality due to emulation

I would never wish that. It ruined the NG.com forums for a bit, a flood of upset buyers.

If a proper clone was done, the features I'd like have been suggested minus the coffee warmer. I'll never understand how people can drink it.

That goes without saying 8)

If they can design them for what they do already, being an AI opponent should be no big deal!

Proper RGB / YPbPr output without having to mess around with amps and jailbar eliminator circuitry would be appreciated.

I wouldn't care for a built-in multitap, since the original controllers have ridiculously short cords, and clone controllers mostly suck. So I would use a multitap coupled to one single extension cord anyway.

I said no, no, no

not sure what reason you get jailbars, my rgb modded duo does not get this problem, but I do use xrgb2+

PCE form factor, with a slim CD loader underneath. SD card support on the side, and all needed AV in the rear, since there would be no need for the expansion port.

Tada, done.

To be honest, just give me a PCE < -- > USB CD-ROM adapter and I'll be happy. Outside of RGB (which can be added in easily) CD-ROM issues are the biggest problems most people face. Considering you just need something to translate the protocols, I assume it wouldn't be too much trouble. Might even get faster loading on more modern drives to boot!

Considering you just need something to translate the protocols,

It's not the protocols that are so bad; scsi and ide are a lot alike.
It's the register decoding. Nobody has a good idea of how the interface registers work.
And decoding 20 address lines to recognize the registers is not fun either.

Now given, this is coming from a layman, but I would assume it's more of a worthwhile endeavor (and maybe easier?) than trying to re-implement the entire PC-Engine stack?

No software emulation.  If I wanted that, I'd go buy something like an Ouya.

Gimme a built in tap for wireless controllers (new six button pads and optional sticks and mouse); boot menu to pick from cd-rom drive, huey slot, or user replaceable hdd (roms and isos); and hdmi out with upscaler and scan line generator.  Dream big!

Emu can take several forms
The system should have 2 processors core and seperately copy the 6270 and 6280
Adpcm needs its own chip
The cd interface can be 1 chip

a NES remake with high end aluminium body, rgb as standard, even optional 720p hdmi, imagine a pc engine ver, no emulation at all
