Magnet seems like reasonable cause. I thought of wrapping it in tin foil to prevent electrical interference. Lol

Probably EMF thrown off by the plasma, as is their nature.  Is the shielding still in place in the Duo-R?

Since I bought the system pre-modded I've never opened it. I supposed I could look and see.

this is the 3rd time in the past month I've heard of cd reading trouble from doujindance DUO-r consoles......Honestly I'd stay away from his consoles in general. He cakes all his wiring with glue of some sort making it very difficult to fix some things if they ever go bad in the future.

Mine had an issue with CD game music and audio drops after about a year.  Adjusting one of the internal pots solved it.  But I don't remember noticing all the wiring being 'caked'.  I'll have to have another look, cause I wonder if he just started doing this?

At the time of the above I order a back-up HOP-M3 laser just in case the pot adjustment didn't work.   It never hurts to have a spare on hand  :D

Yeah, I think it was my friend IrishNinja that posted about his ongoing issues with his doujindance Duo-R.  At first he thought it was a bad power supply since the system worked at other people's houses but eventually realized it was the incredibly slight incline of his entertainment center that was messing with it.

Kind of ridiculous!

Yea, he sent it this way along with his nes to be rgb modded. I was excited to check it out because I hadn't purchased mine yet. Booted up both the Valis game as well as a CDR first try over here. As soon as he got it back it wouldn't work at his place. So so strange.
