When did cotton become...
« on: May 26, 2014, 09:22:00 AM »
I am wondering how this game went from on a high side $300 to $600 plus currently on e-bay? Did I miss something, or have people lost their mind?

There is a thread around here explaining Collectards. The Gouging Much thread is also informative and contains many cross referenced examples of proven market manipulation. The "how?" is very simple, the "why?" that too many people will do anything for money and "collecting" is a hobby taken over by very gullible and ignorant people who love when games reach new highs.

Bottomline don't expect logic from collectible markets nor be surprised to see anything happen at any time.

Rumor has it that someone has been obsessively posting about TG16 values in public forums, which has even further driven up the value.

There are other things to talk about around here afterall.  Don't be afraid to give it a try!

I bought a PCE copy of Cotton for $50 and every time I play it I just switch the language to English.

Problem solved :D

Which thread about collectards are we talking about? The one that has been on going, or the one I started? In any event I understand some of these games being rare. I just could not understand the massive jump in a week...

I suppose a more serious response is that there are only 3 bidders, two of which have bid high.

In the online auction world, you really only need 2 guys that desperately want something for the price to increase substantially.

Typically the fallout from these events are 3 or 4 copies of the game get posted in the near future, because everyone wants to sell at this high price.  Guy who lost on auction #1 ends up saving a lot on copy #2.  Then copies 3 and 4 sell for $100 less than even copy #2.  Once value goes down again, the hair trigger sellers decide they want to keep their games.

That was my plan for when the time comes. You have no reason not to get it since it can be played in English as well

I picked up a US copy a year ago or so for cheaper than Japanese copies are on ebay now.  I paid less than a quarter of the price of that ebay auction (though I still felt like an idiot for paying that much for a single game).
Current want list:  Bomberman 93

Don't confuse the issue with logic and intelligent discourse.
