June 12 - June 18: Aero Blasters
---------------------------------------------------

(Chosen by Phase)

After two weeks of platformers, we've got two weeks of shooters coming up. I hope that sounds as good to all of you as it does to me!

I've never made it really deep into this particular game, but the music from the first stage of Aero Blasters is one of the first TG-16 music tracks to make it into my personal playlist ever. This might sound weird, but it makes me feel the same way that Emerald Hill Zone from Sonic 2 does. It's like I'm zooming through a wide open space on a clear summer day. It's kind of peaceful and exciting at the same time.

Anyway, enough of all that. Go grab some power-ups blast some bad guys.

It took me a long time to beat this game on one credit. That was back when it was released. I wish I could report otherwise, but I just played it tonight and I need a lot of practice for stage 4.

been playing for the last hour just trying to get through stage 2 without dieing. I always loose at least one life usually around the 2 pillars of death. I have made it through them a few times but then some baddies always get me cuz I don't charge bomb em in time or some other mishap

This might sound weird, but it makes me feel the same way that Emerald Hill Zone from Sonic 2 does. It's like I'm zooming through a wide open space on a clear summer day. It's kind of peaceful and exciting at the same time.

Well said, agree the first stage does have a bit of that sonic feel to it.
:-k how about stage 3 where it transitions into space ..hmm reminds me of something..

I started to be able to make it through 2nd stage without dieing. but making through 3rd stage on the first life not so easy.

I remember using the 9 continue code before when playing some two player so looked for some codes online, there is also an easy and a hard code.

Well figured I'd throw in an easy challenge since this game is pretty difficult.
Easy mode + 9 continues = how far can you get

Problem is i cant consistently put in the easy code

first for 9 continues press R R R select at title screen- credits should show under blaster 2
after credit code is entered
"Press Up/Left, Down/Right and repeatedly tap Select until the screen turns blue (easy difficulty) or yellow (hard difficulty)."
I usually end up mashing upleft downright and select for a while and then getting blue to show up after a few minutes?
not sure wtf the exact code is or how specifically you enter it???

well its slightly easier, some projectiles go slower and some enemies seem easier?

Edit: ok I think I simplified it, at title screen hit RRR then select for credits to show
after that for easy mode hit downright and select at the same time 5 times or until screen turns blue
now make sure you select 9 credits before hitting start

Thanks, this will probably be the only way i'll make a dent in this game!

STATUS: While I enjoy the Genesis version AIR BUSTER, I haven't really played the arcade version to make a comparison of all three.

TG-16 > Genesis (music alone secured this).

Still, Genesis port is nice and deserves respect.

The arcade has more parallax than the Genesis version.

The Turbo version often has more enemies per area and per screen than the Genesis version and sometimes more than the arcade.

The arcade uses lots of samples and the Turbo version uses none. I think that the Genesis version uses a few.

Stage 2 has completely different music in the TG-16 version compared to the Genesis and Arcade.  In the Genesis version it's the same as the Arcade.  Regardless of this I like the TG-16 music a lot more as well.

It's not really music in the other versions, more just ambient sounds.

Faithfulness has never meant quality. It's just a different category.

First try, made it the Stage 2 boss and lost my last life there.  Difficulty ramped up kinda quickly!
