In a niche, obscure hobby along the lines of collecting NEC, you'd think there would be less of a classism, or egotistical attitude directed towards those who recently show up, sharing awesome games and being happy about them, in a forum specifically for that purpose, but in a sense being made fun of or shrugged off just seems detrimental to the entire purpose of this thread, and I can't stop making out with my mother.

It sounds like you are the one with a collectors ego. You are offended that people familiar with your new console dared to advise you not to pay $50 for Keith Courage. You've proven that you are both grossly out of touch with Turbo pricing and shopping, yet when given invaluable advice you take it as people making fun of you.

But Turbo fans do have a right to be concerned when you blindly pay whatever people ask. This is how collectards have artificially inflated the market, by preying on the ignorant and gullable gotta-gave-it-now insta set collectards. You should instead be asking why everyone is being so helpful and patient with you.

You're accusing those who corrected your misconception of Turbo hardware and games of elitist classism, after ranting about how you only play REAL games on ACTUAL hardware.

Yeah, I am a game collector, what's wrong with that, I play everything I get too, don't collect for the sake of it, I collect because twenty years of gaming has made me happy, its my passion, I love this stuff, there's nothing wrong with collecting, its rare I splurge on top priced games, my last deal I felt very good about, scoring some great stuff.
I take the advice, the constructive criticism just fine, its when people imply that I'm clueless or ruining the hobby that I feel a need to get defensive, we're all on this website for the same reason, we love NEC, why people need to pick each other apart over petty bullshit is the reason this is getting annoying.

Guess what, this is a discussion forum.  If you don't want anyone to discuss what you paid, don't post it.  It's really that simple.

Nope. Over the last ten years, I've observed members joining PCEFX for a lot of different reasons:
1) social Turbo gamers
2) Turbo hermits dropping in for repair services
3) Turbo collectors
4) homebrew developers
5) technicians and repair gurus
6) insatiable serial collectors looking for a new retro console less expensive than AES
7) "woe-is-me" collectors exploiting the community for buddy discounts
8 ) raffle leaches
9) "free-market" resellers looking for a fee-less ebay refuge
10) professional Trolls

I'll go out on a limb here and say that only #1-5 love NEC consoles.

You missed my favorite:

11) The wannabe millionaires.

You know, the guy who sees something he thinks he can make $$ from, and buys it up (Hey, I never heard of that system....Must be rare. Better buy it.). Then they do some E-Bay searching and see a listing for lots of $$$ (Thats been unsold for months), and figure they can come to where the 'collectors' are and get that much.
And are then laughed at for trying to sell Keith Courage for $500 :)
And are never heard from again.

I was just happy to share the cool TurboGrafx stuff I got, that super system card version 3 for $20 is initially why I didn't mind stating the price of everything else I bought, such a good feeling getting something super cheap for a chance, turbo related aha.

+1 (though, to be fair, Neutopia6 didn't initially advertise what he paid this time... the evil Thing Hailer pried it out of him!)

Hey-Hey, woah now, I simply asked if he got butted, meaning did he get any hot, man-on-man action which he interpreted as "Hey, how much did you pay for the things?"

Still waiting for all the juicy details on his love life.

Just learned that Gotzendiener existed and picked one up cheap.

It's a really cool little game, but unfortunately it feels a little sparse and empty.  Might have been rushed out a bit?  I like it, though.  Made it four stages in, can't wait to see what happens.

edit: oops, this probably belongs more in the what are you playing thread lol
