New games for July-August:
Initial impressions:
Mysterious Song - Wow, what a great game to start into the TG homebrew scene. The writing is witty, the music is great and it's a fun 16-bit RPG! I have been playing this one concurrently with Ys: I & II.
Chew-Man-Fu - a cute, well made puzzler, I have gotten ten levels in and I like what I've seen so far. The graphics are large, well animated, detailed and colorful.
Psychosis - I like the wacky shooter Naxat made here. I have heard (through Turbo Views) that the game is a little short, but it is punishing me harder than Deep Blue. It is surreal, but I think that was the point.
Pac-Land - It is often referenced by game developers as the key early platformer, pre-Mario. I thought I would hate it, but I do not now that I have gotten the chance to play it. It deserves more respect than it has gotten.
JJ & Jeff - What..what what...did Sega rip off Sonic's jump sound fx from this game??? It certainly seems like it. It's an enjoyable romp that reminds me of the first Wonderboy/Adventure Island. There is enough of the unedited original here to see what the devs were going for. An essential TG16 purchase!
