Console prices for a newbie collector
« on: June 04, 2006, 02:51:52 AM »
Hey guys! I just joined the forums and I think they are awesome! I've decided I want to start my own NEC console collection and I'd like to ask for some help.

I've been searching and digging through the forums and I can't quite find what I'm looking for. What I'm searching for is the going price for a boxed/unboxed TG16 and TurboDuo system. I saw the thread for prices for the Express so I'm all set with that.

There's an auction on ebay that I'm interested in that ends tonight so if anyone can get back to me quickly, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

It's a pretty debatable subject as stuff tends to cost you more from ebay than direct from a fellow collector.

I'd say for a US duo (on ebay), you're talking about $100 unboxed and about $160 boxed maybe.

if you have time before your auction ends you should wait for some of the other guys to post here too as opinions will vary massively I think.

Hope that's of some help & good luck with your bid  :)

Thanks for the reply. I just want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off. Anybody have price ideas on the TG16?

I picked up mine from a private-party sell (i.e. not ebay) for around $30, iirc. But it was "well loved" and had some damage, though it plays just fine.

I paid somewhere around 95$ for a boxed japanese DUO but then shipping ofcourse adds alot to that when it's coming from Japan. I'm eagerly awaiting its arrival. ;) Ebay though had several listed for 130$ and 140$ before shipping costs. So expect to pay that unless you wait for a good auction or really look around elsewhere than eBay. I didn't want to wait around forever looking for a better deal so I took the one I found.

TG16 boxed close to $100.00 dunno ebay crazy like that.

Turbo CD prices very.

TurboDuo boxed upwards over $200.00+

Duo-R&RX same as above.

Still avoid the TurboDuo the system suffers from sound issue.

I wouldn't necessarily avoid the Turbo Duo as Tron said, because sometimes there are a lot of people who haven't had problems with theirs (like mine), but also a lot who have had problems. We have been finding more and more fixes for the problems that do occur on the Turbo Duo system, so I wouldn't be so frightened of it.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

I'd all most recomend if, D-lite had a perfect fix for it.

Still afther reading so many... horror stories on it most of the time i tell any body to skip it.

To me a Turbo Duo is like this buy at your own risk  :P

Duo R/RX's usually go in the upper 200's. I sold my modded XBox and traded my plain US TG16 set with D-Lite for it.
