cool i have a mission. can it be rx or duo, or are you set for the duo r only?
The time is not yet for the mission, I think, but I'd be looking for a Duo R or RX. Those are the models with the Arcade card built in, right?

All Duos have Super System Cards built in; nothing has a built in Arcade Card.

When they were trying to take over the world back in the WWII era, "dirty jap" was acceptable since they were the villains. Now it can be deemed offensive by itself. It's just shorthand to me and still used like the former dejap.com. If the intent is to insult, the context will be clear that you're doing so. I don't think it's offensive by default, but that would be relative of course, some people would take it that way.

Ok, thanks for the clarification!

For some reason I have the Duo R and RX as superior to the Duo in my head. Are they of better build quality, less worry about leaking caps?

Its more esthetical at that point. I prefer the duo R because it is well built. The black duo feels a little cheap compared to the duo R, but in the end the inside is very much the same. it wont do anything more that a regular duo can do. duo r and rx usually go for way higher prices. I'm watching a few auctions, most of them are finishing today, please pm me if you wanna know more about the prices and if you want me to bid on anything. ill give you all the informations needed

That's my understanding--better quality caps in the R/RX. (I'm sure someone can correct me if I'm mistaken)

Yes. Regular Duos have the cap problem. R/RX systems might need them replaced someday, but it's not a common issue yet like regular Duos. I punched a hole through a TurboDuo once while cleaning it with a q-tip. R/RX systems are much sturdier and easier to use in places because the AV cable doesn't go out the side. The HuCard door in particular is not flimsey and does not come off easily on Duo R/RX systems.

I may have a copy of Dracula X coming my way, so I think I'm actively in the market for a Duo R/RX.

Edit: Just completed transaction for Dracula X, so now I'm in the hunt for a console to play it on!

Got my Duo-R very recently.  Really like the look, quality feel of this console. Mine is complete stock (no mods) so paired with a TG-16 and my Everdrive to cover the games I've yet to collect, or will never afford .. It's been a rocking good time. Alot of my larger retro (and current gen) collection is collecting dust as I obey !  So many in this forum where instrumental in my waiting for and pouncing on a solid deal. Expecting a Duo-RX and a Avenue 6 controllers in the mail.

Just an auto FYI reminder about the fully English patch for it.

I've tried the patch before, but Magic ISO won't mount the patched .cue

Try Alcohol 52% if it's a matter of wanting a mounted image to play it with an emulator. If it's a matter of burning it to CD-R for playing on real hardware, try burning the CUE with ImgBurn. If you're gonna do it, and you still get errors, PM me the CUE file and I'll troubleshoot it for ya. Or, I know where there's a prepatched image to download, would be easier if you want.

I just tried the pre-patched image from isozone, but it won't mount either. I guess the problem is with MagicISO.

Fun Fact: I actually have a single file .nrg image that is partially text translated that works perfectly fine.

The last freeware version of Alcohol 52% or Daemon Tools are other virtual CD emulators to try.

so, with prices being sky high, I wonder which would be the best to get
1. Turbo CD
2. US TurboDuo
3.  JP TurboDuo
4.  Duo-R

All are expensive on ebay anyway, even the broken ones.  Any advice greatly appreciated since I'm new to TG16 collecting.  I have a TG16, just no games and no CD.

Oops!  Edited to avoid offense!

Well, I owned a regular Turbografx-16 for like 10 years with one game, Keith Courage.  So, I decided last month to shop for a Turbografx-CD, since I already had a TG-16.  I got it for $200.00 on Ebay, which is not bad considering the CD add-on alone can go for $250 - $300.  I'm about to buy an import converter from DB-Elec (he makes homemade converters) so I can use the Japanese System Card 3.0 to play Super CD games and imported titles.  So in total, I will spend about $310 to have full CD capabilities (minus the Arcade Card, which only had a few titles anyways) on the Turbografx-16.  To me, that's cheaper than spending $400 - $500 on a Turbo Duo, which I heard breaks more often.  Plus, I like to go with the original system rather than the "upgraded" Turbo Duo.   But that's just me.  :-)
